A Tryst For Three
                                 by michael cahill

'Tis not two twiddling thumbs do I invest
in piteous taps for your sad demise.
Perhaps constant pummeling toughened my
heart creating a calloused coarse cover.

Now, where passions sweat once seeped forth in lust,
congealing blood now glistens much the same.
Your lover once again gripped in tension--
this time rigor mortis will soon subside…

Now look! You bring me satisfaction dear.
For once, it is I who am spent with smiles.
And you, of course, have surely had your fill
of my meticulous and tender care.

I thought I loved a tender kiss in Spring.
I love the taste of vengeance even more.

I grew tired of all the restrictions. This is my version of blank verse. The meter is mixed. I found that iambic pentameter didn't suit the theme, so I didn't use it all the way through. (obviously)
