Rhymed Poem/Sonnet Attempt
A chapter in the book Sonnets
You Are My Guitar
by michaelcahill
I'm not really alone. This is my voice,
The one that sings, and you are my guitar. A mute, without my music, not by choice. My crippled tongue shyness, keeps me afar. My midnight dreams of perfect melody; This is my humble voice, soft whisper rise, with your voice together, in harmony as it would be, if seen within my eyes. Sure, my heart is breaking, no words to say Yes, I feel like crying, my lyrics true This is my only voice, the only way is in this song, that I can be with you On silver winds, hear what my heartsong brings. My voice, my guitar. Listen! Touch the strings. |

this is a first attempt at a sonnet which I am aware it is not. welcome brutal critique. anything that is un-sonnet like about this I would like to know. other than that treat it like a poem. deals with shyness and love from afar as the sad result that sometimes has some reward anyway. edited today based on wonderful feedback. hope it is improved!
