Aghast
A (slightly modified) Octogram poem102 total reviews

Your poem strikes hard into the mystery of a bog inhabited by spooky ghost who has the power to trap humans within her reach. The style reminds me of an octogram. The sound effects add to the nature of such a swamp in the hours of the night.

Very good work; I've always thought the word "aghast" in and of itself is creepy. I like the creative rhymes. Really enjoyed this.

As you say, a slightly modified octogram. Rules were made for the guidance of wise men and being wise a change in the rhyme scheme is better than forcing something irrelevant upon us. This achieved the usual creepy elegance we have come to expect.

You ghastly, creepy devil you. I love it. The font is a bit difficult to read, but other than that. It sent shivers up and down my spine. Great job. Always nice seeing your work in my message box.

Hence the recitation (or narration if you prefer), Heidi.
I see the font just fine on my end.
Live and learn I always say.
Thanks...

Dean, good job on this octogram. It made me not want to go
in the south in those bogs. You do so well on scaring people.
I could feel the person's heart beating fast and the fear rising.

Nah, it just grows on you after awhile is all, Patricia. It also depends a lot on how it's done.
I've never been a fan of buckets of blood and gore when it comes to horror. That sort of thing doesn't appeal to me in the slightest, nor does it appeal to most others. It's those things the author keeps from us--those left to our own imaginations--which makes for a good terror tale, I think.
Thanks for reading and reviewing AGHAST. I do appreciate your comments.

Sounds like a scary place in the south. Is it a mirky haunted swamp in which he sees a ghost that is pulling him toward death or clinical depression rearing its head.
Good job.
Congrats on placing in the reviewing contest.
