My Heart Feels the Rise

![]() my heart feels the rise
of the flaming sun with the torturing ache of an impossible love we could have had . .
every night I'm a prisoner of your mysterious ways the way the full moon caresses your bare skin and dew shines on your hair .

thousands of starsshine in your eyes and your lips await mine ajar with a taste of sweet wine I'm drunk with your taste .
.
by dawn's light seeds of sadness grow in my heart because it's time to wake up ![]() |

Gogyohka is a five-line Japanese poetic form with no strict rules on syllable count but as brief as possible. You may use any theme. Lines are grammatically connected. Alliteration, personification, and metaphor are okay. It usually doesn't rhyme, but natural not forced rhymes are okay. Japanese poets have written gogyohka since the 1910s. However, they did not name the form until 1983 by poet Enta Kusakabe. source = writers digest
