What a clever subject and sharing of remembrances! Yes, I had forgotten about the Yellow and White Pages. I was especially intrigued by your consulting a "psychic" from the phone book. Smiles- Joan

Hi Sunnilicious! I see you still write with humor and irony. Here is a lovely treatise on the lowly phone directory. We still get them, but hardly use them anymore since it is so easy to Google, Facebook, and Twitter these days. I still find them useful when camping, as the pages make excellent campfire starters. Nicely done.

LOL! Amazing the many avenues our mind travels once we latch onto a memory or focus on an item ... :) :) A fun offering for the month's poetic sojourn, Alicia -- thanx for sharing! ;) Yvete

A very well-written poem about the phone directory that represents the old technology that we used to find information now we can only type in a few letters and numbers to find what we are looking for.

Hi! I put the app on my phone, but it's not the same as the annual periodicals. Pffft. Thank you. Hearts & hugs :)

Those were the days, being able to let your "fingers do the walking" through the yellow pages. Now we just look everything up on the internet.

"Where fingers seeked names or titles" (sought) seek has an irregular past tense form

Hi Helen! I appreciate the edit note. I prefer the annuals. They always had a free magnet too. Thank you :)

Our fingers would really do the walking in these yellow pages; if we wanted each ad you mentioned within your poem. The telephone book is a necessary book. Without it we would be lost.

Good job, Alicia. I've thought about this many times. Technology is making obsolete many things we liked and used--like the telephone book. I expect very soon it will be gone. I still use a Rolodex to store addresses and phone numbers. Another thing to go by the wayside will be Christmas card lists. Does anyone but me send them any more? This is an interesting write to make us think what we'd prefer NOT to give up. Marilyn

Hi Marilyn! Seattle and Burbank Los Angeles don't give away free annuals anymore. Playing on the app isn't the same. Times really have changed. Thank you. God bless you :)

I guess most people are giving up their land line--which I don't intend to do. But I can see where most people have gone to Smartphones. Marilyn
