So many good memories are from just hanging out around a fire and talking, joking, and just relaxing with others. This was a great way of showing that.
Thanks for sharing this,
Brandon

Short and powerfully presented with the campfire image. By returning to the old camp spot, you can reignite memories. The pun is intended but fits so well with this senryu.
Thank you for writing.

I love this Senryu with its lovely provocatively nostalgic wording. I never met either of my grandfathers, but I did meet my two grandmothers, and don't remember much of them. Beautifully written dear Gypsy, blessings Roy

Fire, warm memories. Great utilisation of symbolism.
It is always hard to find something new to say to you Gypsy as each of your poems speak to me in a different way.

Very beautiful artwork ti go with your poem. Between the words that you used and the picture. It made me feel warm and cozy like I was in front of a campfire. Well written poem and I enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing.

Yes. I can feel the warmth and glow of the campfire obviously by the photos, but your words bring the warmth and love from the campfire memories.
Nicely done, my friend.

Hi Gypsy,
I enjoyed your 4-8-4 Senryu. It caused me to remember so many campfires. But none with my grandfather. I wish!
But I was a Cub Master for 6 or 7 years back in the day. As well, I was a Lieutenant in the Christian Service Brigade. Many canoe trips down the Cains River here in New Brunswick. Seems I was always trying to dry my socks!
You share that you had some campfires with your grandfather. You're so lucky. I chopped wood by Gramp. He was an outdoorsman... loved to hunt and fish. I guess he always put food on the table during The Great Depression. I know my mother loved fried trout! But I never got to go fishing or hunting with him. However, he told me lots of stories as we piled wood.
When I hunted with my uncles, they always loved to stop at lunch time, and build a campfire... brew some tea, with pine and spruce needles floating about. I couldn't believe they preferred a proper dinner to hunting. But then, they did get to sit around a campfire with their Dad.
I especially like your adjective, "warm", which fit both the campfire and the memories. They meant a lot to you. I try to be a good grandfather now, at 72. I have three granddaughters. I'm blessed.
Nicely penned! Thanks for sharing. Brought back some fine memories!
Hugs,
Kimbob

It's fiction. I never met my grandfathers. I was close with my grandma. When I write poetry I don't know where my ideas come from. I don't question it.
Writing haiku or senryu is all about creating a mental picture of a moment in time. I'm 64 and I have 2 beautiful granddaughters and a wonderful little grandson. They're the best. I'm blessed.
