The thought that returning home means being greeted by that someone special, the person with whom one shares a happy life. Swans give us a good example.

This is an Ekphrastic poem based on Swans.
Very beautiful peaceful and graceful creatures that seemingly have no purpose but to float and display their beauty for us to enjoy.
I remember many years ago here probably at least 10 when I first met Cheryl Mel Woods a writer here from Australia.
We communicated with her reading my work for almost a year until she started writing falling in love with my mind.
She was convinced I was going to move to the Gold Coast of Australia.
She planned on setting up a picnic at her favorite spot with a bottle of wine and some food where the swans will be and where she likes to write.
The problem was she was going through a nasty divorce and had a lot of mental issues plus family issues with her two children who were older teenagers giving her nothing but grief.
I tried to correct that but to know use to the point where I had to ignore her until she finally left fan story.
...

I think that happens a lot in fanstory. It's easy to fall in love with a poet or writer. It's mostly infatuation. It happened to me. His name was Dean Kuch, he died a couple of years ago. We had a lot in common and talked everyday for a year. We planned to move in together, he even came to visit me, I live in California and he lived in Ohio. Anyway, I think you did the right thing but maybe could have ended it in a better way.
Thank you for the kind review and for sharing.

It's amazing to me how many animals mate for life. It seems a little strange that in today's society humans don't. Just a thought that came to mind. I enjoyed reading your poem.

Doves also mate for life. Read this: Ekphrastic is a poem inspired by a picture or painting. Wonder who created that word? Looks fantastic in black and white. Pretty Swans.
Count your lucky stars!

The word EKPHRASTIC, It's a written description of a work of art. Often vivid and dramatic; either real or imagined; of a person or an experience, or a thing. The word comes from the Greek language, meaning: ( 'out' 'speak' 'to call an inanimate object by name').
Thank you, my friend, you are a wonderful reviewer. I appreciate that you took the time to read and review my poem.

What a pretty poem about a pair of pretty birds. I didn't know they mate for life. I know the ducks are. I see you are getting a couple of books ready. What do you do with the artwork? I'm publishing a book of poetry using my own photos. But I don't have one fore every poem. I left some blank and are using a couple from the internet that I think it's free.
Well done.

You can publish your book with or without pictures. With pictures takes more time. I publish my own books through Amazon. If you have a publisher, they will take care of everything for a fee. I assume you know that. I lived alone when I published my books. It was very time consuming but I didn't have anything else to do. Now I have a family and responsibilities.

Hi Gypsy, I love swans. They mate for life. Your poem is filled with good sensory appeal. I especially liked: seasoned lovers. Good play on words.
This poem made me smile. Well chosen photo. A pleasure to read.

I like the double use of "seasoned" in the last line because the second line listed all the seasons and the love of these lifelong partners lasts through all the seasons. Nice!

What a joy to read about 'seasoned love' among the swans and the delight they display in their year round pairing and sharing -and a superb pic to illustrate
