Appreciate the author notes! Learning about the MODERN SENRYU. It's rubbing off on me. Time to disect this monarch butterfly. Not sure if I can recall Kinder Joy candy? But if you did, it would spin you in a time bottle. Reminiscing when you were eight and how tasty that candy was. The time capsule lives within our ship trapped in a bottle. Nicely done! Count your doubloon!

This reminds me of the box of cracker Jack I used to get when I was a child inside cuz it also had a hidden present inside.
This was well written a 5/6/6 Senryu.

I recognize that candy! The Kinder must be from German for "children" and I heard that people were afraid of the toys being a choking hazard but I'm sure there are always hazards with toys in food. Lol. I like the way the poet is sent nostalgically back to childhood by it.

Yes, the toys are a choking hazard. They come with a warning but some parents don't check. I didn't know they were from Germany. I saw Japanese ones in the form of panda bears..so cute.

I was introduced to these wonderful little eggs with a toy in the center while living in Germany. My husband was active Army, and we did two tours of Germany, four years each. A great time. Thank you for sharing this adorable poem with us.

I did when we lived there but I've forgotten most of it. It's been 22 years, I do speak Spanish. I taught at a bilingual school.
