What a lovely poem about why your parents gave you the name Joy. It stands to reason why they did ... you gave them lots of happiness, except when you were griping on about it being boring. LOL! Well done, my friend, another poem, another day. :)) Sandra xxx

You are aptly named--how delightful you discerned their motivation for the pick. Charming poem tells a sweet story. (I had a friend Joyce who often went by Joy--last name Post. Google "Joy Post": be forewarned what you will find!

Debra,
Oh, yeah. I like Joy. It's full of happiness, obviously - and those other names are a bit... well, stale. You'll find a half-dozen of all those other folks for every Joy you run across. ahahaha Sad - especially when we know we could all use more JOY in our lives!
BTW, adore that image! Thanks!

It's funny how people's names affect their characters. My real name is MariVal and whenever I tell people my name they have a hard time pronouncing it. Part of it is that it is a Spanish name and Americans are not familiar with it. I like your middle and first name. It's lovely. Well done!

Thanks so much, Gypsy :) I love your real name - people should try harder to pronounce it ;)

Hurray! I am so glad that you embrace and re"JOY"ce in your middle name. My husband and I hyphenated our last names and we felt sorry for weighing down our daughters with such big last names, we told them they could choose their own middle names, if they wanted.

Hi Helen :) Thanks for your feedback. Did your daughters choose middle names after all?

Only our first thought she liked the name Violet when she was six. She never brought it up again. 😊

LOL! Bless her!

All three of her children have middle names!

LOL
All three of our children do too. It compensates for our short surname!

That's my daughter-in-law's middle name and she embodies it very well. I see that you do too. A joyous spirit is a gift. A beautifully written and illustrated poem, dear Debra.
Sending along my very best for the day and for the challenge, Sally XOs...

This is a nicely written rhyming poem. It has a great flow and rhyme scheme. It's actually quite wonderful I'll proudly now lay claim. Nice photo to go with your poem. Joy is a beautiful name. Well done.

Very well written and a fun poem to read. It seems most children at one time or another do not like their name, but thankfully that changes as they get older. Joy is a beautiful name to have.

Yes, it's now you understand what a child does to their parents, they make them feel ten feet tall, and when on has grandchildren one's heart swells even more. Well done, Debra, for now understanding how one's parents feel. Well done, blessings Roy

This poem will appeal to all ages and especially those, like me, who hated our middle names. I'm still not fond of mine, but tolerate using the middle initial. JOY, on the other hand, is a wonderful name. Rod
