Rhymes and meter work for me, and remind me that one of the best things about books is that they are time machines...that same wild thunderstorm has been flailing the Mississippi since Mark Twain put down his pen...excellent analogue...

Thank you. That means a lot. I love books set in earlier times.

Very nicely written Analog poem that wonderfully describes the joy of reading books. Your rhyming and meter succeeded in flowing with smooth efficiency. You describe the journey of the mind. Happy traveling!

Thank you. I am definitely a book freak. I'd rather buy books than food. lol

This is a very nicely composed poem and I agree with you. Either through our imagination or our writings/readings, we can live many lives simultaneously--go anywhere or be anybody. Marilyn

Thank you, Marilyn. I always tell that to children so it will encourage them to read books.

This is excellent. The club has such interesting assignments. Your wording is beautiful, and I love your conclusion that books can take you anywhere from a rustic cabin to a queenly throng. Books open the world of imagination. Excellent rhyme. Very enjoyable. judi

This is very well done. not only does it followall the guidelines to the letter but the subject matter is interesting too. The sixth and seventh lines are my favourite. That internal an cross rhyming really sets the the whole poem off.

Hello :)
I enjoyed your potlatch challenge entry very much.
Books do take us into our own world as we create our own images in our minds from the words in the book. And there is no better place to be than in our own world!
Nice use of alliteration in special sphere, I like the internal rhyme of mysteries and history, loving the queenly splendour line!
Sound rhyme scheme and good meter.
Nicely done.
Best wishes, Debra :)

You did a great job, Yvonne, with your challenge poem. Great job on the meter, the art choice, the well-chosen words, the rhymes, and the overall message. You are right. Books, REAL books, can take you anywhere you wish to go and make you feel alive. I enjoyed your great descriptive words of your cozy place. Thanks for sharing. Jan

And Yvonne, I loved it. I don't know, I was just there and it felt right. You captured that loving sentiment of belong. A lovely written poem for the challenge. Warm regards. Ulla:)))

You are so right, Yvonne! Reading takes you away from the humdrum of everyday life into a world that is yours. A different world with every book we pick up. I can't understand people who say reading is boring, they've obviously never picked up a book in their lives. Lovely poem, my friend. :) Sandra xxx

I agree. I know people who don't read books. They don't know what they're missing. Thanks for reviewing.
