Yes, she likes dime store novels and a love so sweet. A cowboy's love just can't be beat. Thanks for this fun descriptive poem.
Wishing you the best.

This is lovely but also very sad. I feel for the poor girl. I wonder what she will find. Love or danger?
Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest.

That's the question, Maria. Love or danger?
Thanks.

It's a shame, but there are too many of these lonely girls around, searching for love that they have obviously never had. This is a well written nonet and a strong contest entry. Well done and good luck! :) Sandra x

Terrific portrait of a girl lost and alone, needing "love" any way she can get it. There are a lot of girls like this, coming from bad homes. Sad. How can we help them? It's a real dilemma.

Hi Luna, this is a well written Nonet and contest entry about feeling lonely and looking for love at a truck stop. Plenty of lonely truckers for sure.

A very well-written Nonet. A girl feel she don't belong seeking for someone to just hold her tight. Life can become very lonely.

Hi again, Jeni. Oh, Lordy. When I was in the Marines, stattioned in Barstow, California, I hitch hiked route 66 at least four times from there to Chcago and New York. I loved the old 66. Many good times were had on my trips across. I can relate to your poem in some ways as a result. LOL..Happy Holidays. Bob

Thanks so much, Bob. I've done my share of hitchhiking as well. Not all were good experiences but it was something I chose to do. I Ebenezer those days well... Get your kicks on Route 66! ❤️ ❤️

Ya know, Buckwheat, one played by comedian Eddie Murphy on Saturday Night Live, one called this, "Nookin' por nub in all da wong paces", Jeni. That translates into English as "Looking for love in all the wrong places."
I say this because my current roomie is a truck driver, and I hear how he speaks down about the lovely ladies who prowl the truckstop lots late at night.
No woman in their right mind should hook up with a guy like my room mate, but some do, unfortunately for them as they later discover.
Of course, you're not exactly writing about roaming the lots of a truckstop, just being a patron of one.
There are all types of "love" to be found in the world today. Some of it is very real, kind and genuine. Then, there are other types of love, too--the lustful kind-- that are not so much.
And then, there's those dimestore romances that I often used to read about in...welll... dime store novels, for lack of a better term.
Good poem, Jeni, one which evokes an immense feeling of loneliness.
Well done.

Dean, I was talking about women who roam tricksters looking for love.
Lol I remember Eddie and buckwheat well. I also saw Eddie in concert during his raw tour. OMG... Belly laffing funny but really graphic. I'm sure it put lots of people of... Not me!
I just saw him in a movie effervescent he played a very serious role. He was amazing!
Dammit if was Mr. Something... If I remember the name I will let you know. 😀
Thanks, friend. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
