This is an excellent poem. You are right about needing help understanding the poem all the way through, though it's possible to get a glimmer of the idea. Your poem is well written.

I enjoyed the poem very much, Pam.
But I was trying to figure out who it was about until the first line of your notes, then I had an Oh1 moment and got it.
Great use of a complex poetic metaphor.
Agreed on the bird feet.

I love the fact that you use two iconic Australian birds as examples of the root/feet of these two birds, the cassowary can be quite dangerous, and the emus steal one's food, this is another wonderful poem Pam. Well done, blessings Roy

Well written. The poet successfully contrasts despair and hope from new life. The skilful blending of phrasing and imagery enrich the underlying inspiration for the reader.

I was raised in Illinois, and I remember the miles of cornfields. I haven't been back for many years. I wonder if they still exist. Thank you for sharing this poem with us. I felt there is quite a bit of symbolism here. Great job.

The drought in Tennessee has made it very difficult for farmers in our area, and corn has taken the biggest hit. This is a wonderfully written poem. Best of luck with your writing! Have a great day, and God bless.

Pam,

You alway write the best poems. It is true that corn stalks have pretty sturdy roots. I love the spring and early summer when you can see all the crops growing.

Well done

Cecilia

This is A while we're in nicely arrived poem about a man and seeing the harvest of his crops in his mind. I enjoy very much listening to it most farmers I believe have times when they close their eyes and they see the results of their work. May you have a wonderful day and a terrific week. Patricia.
