Florette poem, variation #2

Woodland Lullabye

by damommy

An ancient oak stands silent guard,
a mighty tree so gnarled and scarred.
Its branches rustle in reply
to mother vixen’s mournful cry
below a nighttime shining sky so brightly starred.

The creatures sing their woodland song,
a giggling brooklet plays along,
while pine trees whisper hush-a-bye,
their dulcet keys a lullaby,
the forest gently wrapped in moonlight’s soft sarong.
