dreaming: Hi long neglected friends, not forgotten, always in my heart. Today I missed the deadline for ABNA [Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award]. My own fault: I wanted to finish my new story because I thought my old one was not good enough! When I visited the Amazon site, the Young Adult Fiction category was still open, so I thought: I'll do it! Started to submit and had to measure out a word-restricted section; tidied it up and returned [within half an hour].Yes, you guess it, CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED, was the message posted. I could have kicked myself, but will use my angst to write a bit more of my new 'better' fiction novel: set in 12th century, Ireland, it is twisting and turning in surprising ways, surprising me [I'm just the writer]. In fact I am enjoying it very much. My protagonist has gone from being a Ban-Shee to a widow of great strength, both physically and mentally; my anti-protagonist is now the woman who was the Banshee, so that's enough twist for now. Hope everyone is keeping their head above paper: love to Stephie, Jen, Rebecca, and all those who gave me a lift on their wonderful shoulders last year. Remember ABNA next year, all of you who write fiction and have a good book betweeen 50,000 and 150,000. I know there's a slim chance of winning against 4,999 other talented people, but it is a star in your crown just to enter in my humble opinion. I am going for that star next year. Ms that are self-published and owned by the writer are also eligible, as well as unpublished works. Good luck next year. Good luck to anyone who managed to get their entry in on time!!
