You can choose from three types of contests.

Writing Prompt
This contest is designed to be a quick challenge in a short period of time. You provide a prompt to writers and challenge writers to write about it. Example prompts.
  • Writing Time
    Short. After you create your contest writers will have between 8 and 72 hours to submit an entry. You decide this time when you create your contest.

  • Supported Writing
    All. You can create a poetry, short story or script writing contest.

  • Voting Time
    Your voting booth will be created when the deadline is reached. Site authors will determine the winner using a voting booth. They will have only one day to vote.

Standard Contest
A more traditional contest. This contest is better suited for more detailed contests or when a larger amount of time is required to write for it.
  • Timeframe
    You decide. After you create your contest writers will have at least three weeks to submit an entry. You decide how much time is needed when you create your contest.

  • Supported Writing
    All. You can create a poetry, short story or script writing contest.

  • Voting Time
    Your voting booth will be created when the deadline is reached. Site authors will determine the winner using a voting booth. You can specify that they have five or ten days to vote.

Challenge
You create a challenge that an author can accept. When you create your contest it will be posted as a challenge. The author that accepts your challenge will be your competition.
  • Timeframe
    You decide. After you create your contest it will be available as a challenge. The contest begins when the challenge is accepted.

  • Supported Writing
    All. You can create a poetry, short story or script writing contest.

  • Contest Committee Decision
    This contest is determined by the contest committee. The committee will normally provide the results within 24 hours.

Questions and Answers

Q:Do I have to provide the prize?
A: No. You do not need to provide the prize. You will specify an entry fee. Each member that joins your contest will pay an entry fee (in member dollars.). That will create a prize pool which will go to the winner.

Q:Can I enter my writing into my own contest?
A: Yes. You can enter your own contest.

Q:Who will determine the winner?
A: After the deadline is reached we will create a voting booth. Everyone that participated will be asked to vote. They can not vote for their own entry. We will also make the voting booth available to other writers..

Q:

How will the winner be paid?
A:The site will pay the winner the full prize pool after the voting is completed. In the event of a tie the prize pool will be split.

After I create my contest what should I do?
A:The site will take care of running the contest. We do recommend that you check in on your contest from time to time to answer any questions that may be asked in your contest forum.
