I only have one son, but I have heard of the challenges that can exist in the mother/daughter relationship. Thank you for sharing the beautiful, rose bouquet and the form plus its requirements, which you met so effortlessly. I admired your mono-verse rhyme plus added internal rhyme. Cheers- Joan

Thank you Joan. Even with stresses and strains, there is still a bond of love.

Thanks for maintaining the momentum of Welsh forms you have been using lately. I shall have to try some of them out on my Poems and Pints group when we meet again in just over a week's time.
This poem covers its subject so well. I could catch the scent from here.
I did think that your synopsis in the note was an excellent description of the form, but the first part of it I found confusing to begin with, mainly because it kept mentioning a quatrain and your poem is of course a sestet plus the the thoddaid.
Now for something really confusing:
'Hir-a-thoddaid - Wicipedia
Un o'r pedwar mesur ar hugain ydy'r hir-a-thoddaid sy'n fesur caeth; fersiwn degsill o'r gwawdodyn hir ydyw gan fod y llinellau'n ddegsill yn hytrach na naw ...
Not to worry Tommy bach. We're all dyslexic by yur.

A very well-written poem about a mother's birthday. To buy beautiful flowers for a mother on her birthday is a good idea and is always appreciated when a daughter makes the gesture. Another great new format. There is lots to learn this year, for me, anyway.

Thank you Sandra. So true. I'm working on my book of formats, with over 400 I''ve done. I want to have at least 2 examples of each, so I'm now retracing and finding those I've only done 1 of. So almost all of mine will be different formats.

You speak the truth in your lovely words here, nothing like a beautiful dozen of roses to melt your heart. I really like this form of poetry and I'm going to try it myself. You are really knowledgeable about poetry and I am envious of that. You work is sweet, simple and exquisite.

Nice, sweet poetry. Very enjoyable and the only thing I would say is that it's a little wordy, in my opinion. I would have left out e.g. often,,, Just to keep the flow going. It made me feel nostalgic and I really liked reading it, thank you.

Thank you Emeryald. When writing pentameter each line requires 10 syllables. That is the poetic requirement. So you are telling you would have preferred that I write it in a different meter. That was requirement of this format.

You are so right, Tom, a bouquet of roses is a sure way of bringing a smile back on mum's face. I've did it several times! lol. Of course mums and daughters have little tiffs, both being female they share the same hormones, but it doesn't last long. I enjoyed this lovely poem, my friend, well written and a lovely photo to go with it. :)) Sandra xxx

I loved reading your very heartfelt poem. A bouquet of roses always brightened my day. The image you selected is so beautiful, breathing new life and wonder with each rose. I will have to challenge myself one day to write a Welsh poem
Thank you so much for sharing.
Happy New Year.
