I too am lucky to live near a park with a bridge that I cross each week. Thank you for introducing me to the Coles Rhyme and adding the vivid photograph. I appreciate your encouraging us to "Span the creek". Cheers- Joan

Thank you Joan. They sure add to the quality of life when there are parks and paths.

A bridge is indeed an amazing thing facilitating movement as it does, whether it be the Golden Gate of San Francisco or as shown here one that opens up a national park to further exploration.

In my adult lifetime two bridges quite close to each other have been thrown across the River Severn which, at that pint separates England from Wales. Until this year they were toll bridges but the cost of their building has now been adequately covered so both can be traversed from now on for free. I always used to be able to get into England free but I had to pay to get back into Wales.

Thank you Jim. Interesting. When I lived on Long Island, Had a free bridge into New Jersey, but a toll to get back into New York. Here, once a toll, always a toll.

When they got the grant of money for the bridge the had to promise to pay it back once the tolls had paid for it.

A very well-written poem and a great format that seems playful and easy to construct if you have a perfect subject. The photo of the bridge is perfect and shows off the beauty of the park.

Thank you Sandra. Just a touch of mono-rhyming plus a transition through a refrain. Give one a try!

I know what you mean, Tom, it's lovely when they do such things so that we can enjoy our parks more. Your poem is lovely, and says a lot about what you car about. Sorry I haven't been reviewing much, I have the worst sneezing, coughing cold ever! I told my hubby I have man flu! lol. It didn't work though. Well done my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

Thank you Sandra. I noticed when I lived on Long Island New York, that they don't allow access to their lakes and streams. All it held privately, or you pay to get into a beach (only if you can prove residency). In Minnesota, we put paths aroun or along everytthing. I'm sure you noticed differences between Spain and England. Sorry you have been ill.

I really do like this poem. Your format is different and your rhyming scheme is unique. My sister live by a creek where beavers have ct down trees and created dams along the way. She home had been flooded at least 2 times in 25 years, because the authorities refuse to remove the fallen trees giving preference to the beavers. Patricia

Thank you Patricia. Well I guess they have a right to build their homes too. Floods are always a problem for us though.

I think this is a very interesting form. I'd not seen it before. I can see myself giving it a try. Would you mind if we used it in Potlatch Poetry sometime?

I like the repeating line, and the way you fit it in so smoothly.

I felt like I had entered a tranquil space. Very soothing. One can almost hear the water as it splashes in the creek bed. I can feel the sun as I walk along. A very good work that I enjoyed reading. It's new to me. The syllable count.
