Another great instructional poem about these wood ducks. The poem flows eloquently with rhythm and tempo. A valuable addition to your collection of nature poems. Well done, Tom.

Great pictures and a very nice poem telling all about this pair and their characteristics. We have a lot of ducks in our area but none of these. They are quite unique. Well done Tom. xx Nancy

Thank you for sharing the colorful wood ducks--I had forgotten the males have red eyes. I enjoyed your Sestets and rhyme scheme plus your "bicorn hat" comparison. Your photos are striking and wonderfully varied. Cheers- Joan

Enjoyed your poem very much, Treischel. I love watching ducks floating along and all of a sudden their butts are up in the air as they dive down for a snack. They're such an interesting critter to watch. Your poem reads very well.
Smiles,
Indy :-)

Great. This poems reminds me of why I intend to take my grandson out into the woods and along the rivers and lakes to see wildlife in habitat. There is a beauty and joy that I found when young and even now that I would like to share with him

When I told his dad about my plans, he said I remember when you used to take me out to see things.

Great poem.

Hi, Treischel,
"Wild Wood Ducks" is another one of your excellent cameos of wild bird life. The language is colorful and very descriptive. It matches the excellent photographs (good work by the way) with you illustrated your poems. "British Admirals Tricorn Hat" is a fresh descriptive metaphor. The sestet structure is very appropriate and carried out with consistent rhyme scheme a good meter.
Your friend and colleague,
Preston

How interesting that these wood ducks have claws on their feet so that they can roost as well as swim. As usual, interesting info about these creatures in your notes. I think I may have seen them, but not really sure. The males are gorgeous! Your sestets are well penned, and provide an interesting and peaceful read :)

I love to watch the wood ducks when out walking. They are such a beautifully marked bird - as is true in most birds, especially the male.
I didn't know that they have the ability to perch. I've never witnessed that.
Your sestets flow well, and you have taught something in this poem.
Thanks for sharing your photography as well as the well crafted poem.
Rose.

Thank you Rose. They are timid little guys, and hide. So they are often hard to spot.
