Hi, Treischel,
I do enjoy your life in the wild cameos and the background information you give in the note. They flesh out the figurative language in the poem and are worth the extra effort they require. The figurative language is lyrical and colorful; the meter rhythmic.

A well constructed Octogram, a form that gives the shorter lines surprising emphasis. As usual, the nature notes at the end are interesting. The photograph has an impressionist feel to it with the way the mirror image begins to fade into the ripples of the pond. Some inconsistency in the use of capital letters at the start of lines, but nothing to seriously detract!

I love a perfectly-metered poem, and then to portray with such interesting subject matter, poetry doesn't get much better than that. Your picture is wonderful--your color, blue like water is perfect. This just won my heart all the way around. Watched a documentary on ducks once on Netflix but only one I really remember was the wood duck. They have to jump many feet to get down to food and their mama who is urging each one on. God must have been needing a creative laugh when he made them! Also appreciate your detailed description below of the ducks' nature and habits. I learned a lot and enjoy myself immensely. Excellent job! GHW
