Wow! If every one of those pods made a flower at the same time that would make a statement Tom. Is that plant really as tall as the trees or did you make it seem to be. Interesting poem. Meter is off a bit in your poem in the fifth stanza and at the end, but I enjoyed it. Nancy

Thank you Nancy. Yes, wouldnt that be something. That plant is at least 20 feet tall. Those are trees, I couldn't even get the whole thing in, with the lens I had on my camera. I needed a wide angle lens for that. The nether change was intentional.

Hi Treischel,
I'm so glad this poem came with a picture otherwise this would have to have that adult content tag on it. lol
A magnificent plant and a great poem.

You are getting all botanical, Tom. Spring must be just round the corner and with such a phallic emblem as this an old man's fancy lightly turns to thoughts of once upon a time. Lol. It looks like some form of cactus or succulent and the large flower bears that out as well.
The break with the rhyming placement at the end is masterful and declares that the risque jokes are over andd the flower is a thing of rare beauty.

Thank you Pantygynt. I was going through my old photos for a flower to inspire be on a gloomy morning and stumbled over this one. I remember the day that I spotted this in the wood,s and took its picture. My wife said, "Why do you want a picture of that ugly thing?", and I said, "Because it is magnificent, I know there's a poem in it". I finally got around to writing it.

I love this work, the image and the sense of it. How wonderful that from a tiny little seed something so great and powerful could rise. You capture the "seed" of it. Such a lesson as well.

It is a towering plant, nothing seem to be able to stop its growth. It seems to produce yellow flowers. Standing tall over everything else.

This is a playful poem, and I found myself liking the rhyme scheme very much. It seems to flow very smoothly. The picture is quite interesting, though I'm not quite sure what it is either haha!

I can't tell how tall it is... but it reminds me of ragweed... (I hate ragweed... ) well, more importantly, it hates me :(
lol

Another conundrum--I have know idea what this plant is but it makes an amazing "statement". Your salute to its "stature" and your rhyme schemes are quite effective. Here's to the "virile weed" filling the "sky"! -Joan

Thank you Jyoti. Then I succeeded in my goal - to get a smile.
Comment from Mark Schardine
The poem resembles the plant, a plant that annoys us as it propagates. Nonetheless, sometimes we prefer wild plants to domesticated ones. They have a survival instinct to go with their beauty.
