Lovely poem, to go with your wonderful photo, Tom. It is amazing how quickly birds grow, isn't it, they look fully grown within a few weeks. I liked your modified minute poem, Tom, it worked really well with this poem. :) Sandra xsx

Thank you Sandra. Indeed they grow full size and are ready to fly south in the fall.

This is a refreshing story. Birds, ducks, wild life of all sorts are my favorite thing.
I'll never forget when a geese family stopped traffic for three minuets on a busy street near me. Who could get upset? Even those in a hurry had to stop and watch.
I did notice the syllable count was not 8-4-4-4 but do understand after reading the note you wrote.
Keep up your good work.

I love this poem, Tom. The family of geese really resonate with me. Three families of geese swam by our dock this weekend. It was quite a delightful parade and always warms the cockles of my heart to see this sight. Thanks for capturing your feathered family in verse. Very well done!

Cute little geese. Poem contains an easy to follow story line and details the family life of these birdies quite nicely indeed. Would be interesting to watch them grow even older.

That's great. There was a contest on minute poems some time ago. I can't remember whether they insisted on iambic meter or not. This little ppoem presents a delightful pictue of the geese.

The simplicity of life can be amazing
but to capture it is hard and you nailed it.
I wander what changes you've been through while the chicks grew from the egg
till fluffy wings
I'll enjoy reading about it in the form of a poem

I tend to lean more towards shorter poems myself. I find that if you're able to stir an emotion, convey a message or help the reader visualize a moment in time, with just a short amount of lines, this takes talent.

It is nice and I know the syllable count was very important. It did seem to switch between present and past tenses. Perhaps that was intended. nicely done.

These geese are beautiful creatures. When I was in elementary school, going to a 1 room school, our teacher spotted these kind of geese on a pond near the school. She had us bundle in out winter clothes as it was a cold day in late November. We walked to the pond and got to within just feet of the geese on the pond. I shall always have a fond memory of that day.
