This was very well written and exuded in drips and drops the morsels of food that these baby birds needed and which required the super-eagle efforts of Mom and Dad to get them the stuff. Well done, Tom.

What an amazing picture, Tom, and the poem is perfect. I was surprised too, at the size of their heads. Does the mother have to regurgitate their food like the smaller birds do? When you say another photographer saw them with a fish, I wondered if they just got stuck in? I'll have to look it up. This is another really wonderful Nature poem, Tom, and a real pleasure to read. xsx Sandra

Thank you Sandra. From the pictures he took it looks like she was feeding them large chunks that she broke off. But not regurgitated.

Nature is fascinating, isn't it? What a treat to be able to observe an eagle with their offspring. I think your poem is perfect for children.

Curious--how far off the ground is their nest? I'll bet it's huge; kind of like an eagle condo!'

Thank you. That nest is about 75 feet off the ground. I was about 200 yards away.

That must be a big nest to hold all those big beauties. How lovely you could get close enough for these shots, must have a good camera. Very cute poem to teach kids about our wildlife. Cute rhyming and most enjoyable, I love birds, even birds of prey. Faye

Thank you Faye. I have a Cannon with a 50x zoom. I was more than 200 yards away. Yes, its a huge nest

I think kids would like and understand this. I believe my little seven year old grandson would be interested in hearing it. Kids like sounds, too, that anchor them in the reality of the poem--and make it fun. Good job, I think.

Very good poem for children. They could be told that the birds life resembles ours. The father goes searching for food for his new addition . They will love the chip chip and peep peep. Good rhythm and flow. The picture used is perfect for your write.

I enjoyed this poem and it would be a wonderful poem along with the photo for a child to read or have read to him. The photo is wonderful. Blessings, Patricia

We saw an eagle's nest at dome-car level during our recent train trip to Denver, and the heads of the young seemed disproportionately large. Your terrific photograph could have been of that siting. Maybe it's the kid in me, but your form, rhymes and cadence appealed to me. I enjoyed your lighthearted mood and addition of sounds. Cheers- Joan

The picture definitely matches the poem, which depicts the life of an eagle and its parents. It can almost be alluded to human relationships and their children. And how they take care of their young as well
