This could have almost slotted in to one of the recent nonsense poem contests - I can see you had fun playing with words, sound and meaning as you created this - makes me want to try one - if a cow could bow? If a pig could jig? If a goat could float?

If a hawk could talk, no words could possible match the majesty of its flight. When it dives though, I know its prey says " oh shi...." And gone.

Very imaginative poem with a sense of humor within. If hawks could talk, could penguins and tigers talk too. And what about the common rat what would he say?
I don't care much for what ratty will say as he is such a dirty pest. Well done, Tom.

Amazing photo Tom, and your poem suits it well. You are very lucky to be living in such a varied beautiful place. England is lovely too, so I mustn't grumble. I enjoyed the style of your poem, too. The whole presentation was superb. :) Sandra

stunning presentation of your poem
good internal rhyme in hawk talk
solid rhyming couplets
I like the way the opening question engages your reader
good touches of alliteration and consonance
good use of enjambment
love the humor, like the parrot preaching
effective use of repetition
a really fun read and of course, another beautiful photo :-) Brooke

How did you get the hawk to stay still long enough to photograph it? Wow! I enjoyed your word play, onomatopoeia, caesura and internal rhymes. Many cheers- Joan

Hi, Treishcel,
What a fun read. Nice easy flow to it. I can't tell one bird from another, so I'll go with hawk. (*<*)
The picture you took is certainly beautiful.
Cheers & Blessings

If a hawk could talk, what would they tell us my friend. Maybe they'd describe the beauty they see as they fly over mountains and trees on nothing more than a breeze. Great poem and thank you for sharing.
