Observing the behavior and moods of the great BLUE HERON CAN BE A VERY SATISFYING EXPERIENCE. THE WAY THEY PERCH AND WALK AROUND GRACEFULLLY FROLICKING FOR FOOD IS A JOY TO BEHOLD.
(Sorry for the accidental caps, smiles).
This story is similar tot he egret written a week back i think. Both birds are almost similar but different in their sizes and habits. Smiles.
Good write and now the readers can tremble with sheer delight seeing a real heron in action, :))
Cheerio, Ritchie. :))

Thank you Ritchie. Yup the heron is bigger and more colorful. Now I want to get a picture of a Sandhill Crane.

Great, first the egret, then the heron and now the Sandhill crane (I like the pink flamingos too, :))
    Ritchie. :))

P.S. 'amada' had created a new format called "SkinDeep" which you may want to try for fun. You can check out my poem "I was told again" for the new format structure and style.

'Mystic Angel777' also started a new format called "Double5Mono" and I shall be posting this format in my poem "The legend of the three trees".

Love your poetic ode to the great blue heron.

I do agree, in flight, they do like prehistoric creatures.

Your descriptions are vivid.

Well done.

Hugs, d

Of Great Blue Herons I'm not fond.
One comes to visit my koi pond
and hangs out there without a care
to dine on fishes who swim there.
If I were him, I would beware
Of guns.

Thank you Nancy. Yes, that's an expensive meal. I fully understand. I felt similar thoughts about woodpeckers on my cedar siding.

Ew! That's an expensive hobby. How'd you get rid of them?

The chosen title, although a single word, is perfect for this series of sestets.
Although not blessed with bright colours these birds are fascinating to watch.
I like the way the behaviour and habits of the bird are captured within the
Confines of the style.
A very nice picture Jeremy.

Did you snap this shot? I live close to Old Man River. I use to work on a riverboat, tug boat & barge. I seen a few of these. Yep, they are pretty and they fly like the terradectal, prehistoric bird. Nice poem to enhance this picture. Good day, mate, wackydo

The heron is a nice bird to watch. Good visual imagery created. Creative. Good flow of rhythm and rhymes. They are not dinosaur birds.... that's a myth, but lizards and gators... well, there... Nice work.

Excellent! I love going down to a creek or rive and watching birds carrying out their hunt and capture. Likewise, any other animals that ww are lucky enough to see carrying out their natural activity is beautiful.

Well penneed.

I always love your nature poems, and this is no exception. I often watch a blue heron fishing in the cat tails. They are amazing and snap up bluegills like they're fish'n'chips. You capture their behavior very well, Tom. Nicely done.

Dear Tom - lovely format and flawlessly penned. I see a lot of Herons at the cottage....and they do have a certain graceful existence ...slow and purposeful.
Excellent work.
Thanks for sharing.
