Dear Dean: this one deserves a ten star rating as it is truly lighthearted, embracing, and full of GRATITUDE for the important things in life! Beautiful packaging as only you can do...the butterfly is genius! Really enjoyed this in all ways. Blessings, thanks and congratulations! Vance

Dean: It seems no matter what subject you choose, you have the gift to deliver it with always a powerful "GRIP" so very uncommon in most poetry. For me, that's the "magic" I seek in reviewing any work including my own. But you are indeed the "master" of Grip! Vance

Hah, I really liked that, Vance...The Master of Grip! That has a cool ring to it. See, you're pretty darn clever yourself, my friend!

This was so sweet, is it a departure for you? It's really nicely worded and rhymed perfect, some really nice alliteration with clumsy /knees, and beating the breeze, the pace was light and smooth, I really enjoyed it, and it's so true we are all so busy, ( writing poetry )

This is a beautiful poem that the author has created with this piece of writing. I am glad that you can stray from the dark side every now and then to come up with a pearl like this. Well done.

Hi Dean, I'm very delighted with your poem. You show that we can take a clue from the children regarding our own lives.
We do hurry, rush, and if we have nothing to do....find some more rushing around. We all do that. I agree, take some time to notice the birds, the butterflies, the beautiful flowers to enjoy, quiet times for peace and tranquility in our lives. You have written this so well, your rhyme and rhythm just soothes the soul. I enjoyed it greatly.

Is the picture of the child one of yours? She is precious - her expression with the animated butterfly enlightening. You have put real warmth into this poem another part of your personality that we can appreciate.

Thank you, Alan, I really appreciate your kind comments. No, she isn't mine, but I've had this animation for quite some time, and I felt it was so appropriate for the poem. She certainly is an adorable little child.

    Thanks again, my friend!

how I agree with all you have said. When it is all said and done , what is life really about? Like you say we should enjoy the lighter hings in life for we can vanish in an instant.
Good rhymes though you have used different rhyming schemes in your verses
Good use of alliteration

Thanks, emrpoems, I appreciate your gracious comments and review. I delivered the lines in differing styles on purpose, to break up the rhythm a bit, and give it a little character. I hope it worked okay for you.

    Thanks again!

Very sweet and wise notes, Dean.

Excellent 'b' alliteration in 9th line.

Top sentiments expressed on how us adults rush around unnecessarily and don't find time to appreciate the simple 'miracles' that abound,
.

Nice description of the children to finish this very enjoyable read.

Best wishes, Ted

PS - well done in the poem of the month too.

Thanks, Ted, I'm glad you enjoyed this simple little poem from the lighter side of my muse. I always appreciate your kind comments.

As far as the P.O.M. goes, I haven't looked at the results. I'll read and review the other entries after the contest is completed, if I haven't already. I'm just superstitious that way, lol.

Thanks again, my friend. Much obliged!

You can relax, Dean. You've completely SLAUGHTERED the other nominees.

No way can you be caught (you're SEVENTEN, yes, 17, votes clear of 2nd place) - unless Elvis really is resident on the moon, and I'm an 18 year-old rich handsome stud. :-)

Hah, Ted, you never fail to get me laughing...hee hee!

Seventeen, huh? Well, I'll have to give a shout out to everyone who helped me by offering great advice, when all is said and done. Eveyone worked with me in depth to make the poem what it is. There were so many, you included, who helped me to shape it, hone it and improve the flow. So in reality, it won't be just my win, but everyone who had a hand in the shaping of it. A "community project", if you will.

Thanks for the update, Ted. I do appreciate it.

Nice poem and the beauty of nature that is so abundantly available everywhere we rarely care to enjoy in our busy life. Your observation and the thoughts are really lovely. Loved reading it and thanks for sharing.

Well Dean this is the perfect of example of why I became a fan: you can scare the crap out of me, send cold chills down my spine that linger longer than I appreciate, and then write something like this. So precious and gentle and beautiful. Love the line about the scabbed knees. There was a time when I was a girl that my Mom called me Grace, because I was so clumsy and I kept breaking open a rather large scab on one of my knees. It took forever to heal.
And you are right we gain wisdom with a age and yet God wants us to have faith like a child. Once again beautifully penned.
