Hi Dean Kuch,

Slowing down sometimes doesn't seem to be an option for some folk these days, many can't afford to - or at least think they can't. Nicely put in your poem though.

Dean, I have always told people that children are God's greatest creation. Yes, we all were children at one time. I have never been one to race through life. No reason to; you get to where you are going eventually.

I really enjoyed your poem. The message makes perfect sense to those who may open their eyes and hearts to accept it. Watching children at play, at school, I realize they no not color or ethnic background. These children are friends and only a racist hate filled society will possibly change them. Peer pressures and even parents can be counted in that change.

My son in Vegas is a robbery detective for their police department. He and my daughter in law have to teenage sons, 13 and 15 that has many from friends from different cultures.

My youngest grandson overheard his parents talking about me being sick when he was 5. I was over for a visit and Reyden climbed into my lap. He put his arms around my neck and said to me, "papa, I am sorry you are sick. I hope my hugs will help you feel better. I love you my papa.
' Dean, I lost it; to have a child that young to give me hugs hoping to heal me. Tomorrow he will be 13 and is such a loving boy. He is so much like his dad, I am proud of all 4 of them. Sorry for my rambling.

Take care my friend as I keep you in my prayers,,,,,,,Jim

No worries, Jim, I enjoy "rambling", and frequently ramble myself sometimes, lol.

Your grandson certainly sounds like he is being brought up right. That's a tribute to you, as a parent, because he is teaching your grandchildren everything that you, as his father, had taught him. You have every right to be proud.

Thanks for you awesome review an comments, my friend.

Hello Dean,
Where does the time go? Your verse brings to mind how everyone seems to be in a hurry...but, to get where? Our definition of success is suspect these days. Happiness and wonder have been traded for vivid experiences and plunder. I appreciate your thoughts of stopping to smell the roses. Nice job with this poem of a wish for "the way it was". Best wishes, Bill

Thanks so much, Bill. I'm happy to know that you see many things the same ways as I do. No need to hurry through life, really. In the end, once that last heartbeat thumps, we've all reached the same destination anyhow.

Thanks again, Bill. I appreciate it!

Dear Dean - I loved reading this very much. You are right, slowing down to enjoy the beauty around us is as simple as pausing within the beauty and making it special for someone else. Lovely writing and full of "the passion for life"
Great job and thanks for sharing it.

Your sweet work here made me smile, and slow down... Wonderful peace seeing that butterfly in the hands of a child. So nice that I want to turn back the clock...Thanking you for the gift of dreaming.

Smiles Dean what I going to say about your thoughts in such great rhyme about slowing down makes me recall
how I have learned

Why race
Slow life to a smooth pace
embrace
all the beauty of nature.

Thanks so much, Gert. I too have learned that invaluable lesson. Having a massive heart attack will tend to make a person slow down an appreciate the life they have. I know it did me!

    I know what you mean
I have found I need oxygen 24 hours a day and a Mac infection I had 4 years ago has returned in my lungs
So a number of Doctors are working on getting medcation to kill the bacteria, which I will need to take or approximately two years
Now that sure has slowed me down and appreciate the wonders around me.

I'm with you, Gert. Blood thinners, enalpril, aspirin daily, omega fish oil 3 times a day, plus three other medications I have to take day in and day out. It really gets old, but we must do it to stay kickin'!

I'll say a prayer for you, Gert, for healing. Hey, it couldn't hurt, right?

Thank you Dean I know for a fact prayers always help in one way or another.

This was really beautiful Dean! I loved the presentation from the opening pic, the font color and background to the closing pic. This is
the best I have seen and read since I started back in June. Awesome work poet :D

At lunch I sit I my car and watch the clouds. I can still see different visions and still imagine far off lands and kingdoms up there. Great way to say stop and smell the roses. Nicely done.

A very touching and beautiful presentation.
The chosen animation is so perfect for the poem which tells
of the wonder and joy in young children's eyes as they view the world through innocent eyes.
I encouraged this "actively looking" behaviour in my children and expressed wonder and joy myself as I pointed nature's bounty out to them.
My time and effort was returned many times over. Now I inspire my "grandies" and they inspire me.
A virtual six stars.

I like your take on 'stop and smell the roses' verse. I think we're born pre-wound and as we age we automatically slow down, which increases our desperation to spin faster. Kenny
