What poetry means to you - how lovely - a conversation with your granddaughter in poetry. And you tell the eager child what it means to you. Beautifully written in a lovely simple free verse. Good luck in the contest. Very poetic. Regards Dorothy

And poetry encourages you to color outside the lines with your entire being. I think you may be fostering a budding poet...who is also your poem.

What a beautifully uplifting poem from an unusual point of view. I do believe poetry is different things to different people. Using a rainbow and crayons is a bit of genius - particularly as you are explaining your love of poetry to a child. Excellent contest entry. Best of luck to you. Blessings, Linda

Hello amada, Your poem is very sweet and endearing, and I could feel the love and the wonder-of-it-all shared between a grandmother and her granddaughter. Of special note:
Simply, child,
she just borrows her colors
from your crayon box!
She opens her big brown eyes,
grins and exhales....
"Ohhhh..."
(Whimsical)
A fun poem that made me smile. Keep the blue waters flowing. LateBloomer

I'd seen another poem pertaining to a box of Crayola crayons by adewpearl, and I enjoyed that one. I also enjoyed your lovely poem, and how you utilized the colors as metaphors for the reasons in which you love to write poetry.
The poetic expressionism you lent to this, as a loving grandmother addresses her young grandchild as to what poetry means to her added a soft, nurturing touch and warm ambiance to your piece.
Very well done, and I wish you the best of luck in the contest, amada.

You have successfully painted what poetry is in your poem. This will go as a poem to teach college students on poetry. It explicitly explains it all. Poetry paints the world and opens your heart to see anything, as long you can imagine! I like it!

What unique and beautiful way of describing what poetry means than to tell a child it's from the crayon box. There's an innocence to this that I just love. Awesome! Les
