Congratulations in winning the contest. Very well expressed emotion. Poignant lines, like this "passing the time
that I once called life
but I no longer
live."

After reading the 1st verse, i knew this to be a great poem and the Blue ribbon reinforced my belief.
Somehow a poet can identify a good write with just a few lines and i saw these lines vividly painted about loneliness and being alone.
It is such a poignant and powerful write.
I suddenly felt sad for anyone who is lonely now. :((
Excellent write and very emotional piece.
All my sixers have been robbed so a Virtual ***** STARS for this brilliant piece of art work.
Cheerio, hugs and luv, Ritchie. :))

I know a six star write when i see one. Just to share with you why i enjoyed your write so much. This is also one of my favourite to compliment yours:

    "Alone! Not Loneliness"

    Alone but not loneliness
    Solitude came calling on me
    It was a refreshing change
    The worries and fears subsided

There was calmness and stillness in the air
    I reached out into nothingness
    Yesterday seemed so far away
Peaceful bliss and harmony I felt

It was strange that I could hear the wind now
The trees rustling told me they were there
The falling golden leaves mark their return
Then silence and the birds chirping I heard

To be alone but not in loneliness
My heart beat as one with the flow of the day
Dried lips tasted the sweet air that permeated
Alas! There was solace to be found

Solitude had always been my friend
It came to find me at the odd hours of life
A dear old friend it became
Taking me to a journey of self discovery

Unto a path of almost full recovery
I was not afraid of loneliness anymore
Solitude showed me the shadows amid the bright lights
It has become a light for my dark shadows

    Cheerio, hugs, Ritchie. :))

Great overall presentation. Your words well convey a sense of an aloneness quite undesired. I think you hit on a couple of extremely strong points of depression, of a house no longer being a home and a life no longer lived. Existence without purpose or hope. Well done.

What an accurate description of depression. I've been there. Yes, you can sit and stare at four walls and believe your home is stripped of memories because the pain has blinded you them. The last stanza tells the raw point of this dreadful disease.
Alone, I await
my death
passing the time
that I once called life
but I no longer
live. -- When you are at that time death seems the only answer because you are numb to the world.

Thank you for writing this. Maybe someone who knows someone going through this will be able to understand what going on and help.

thanks for the great review. no need to worry, it is not a true poem, just written for the prompt. It is the way I see life if something happened to my soulmate:)

You make the case powerfully -
equating emptiness to loneliness.
There is no one there, anymore, to tether you
to a will to live.
And though you may exist
the joy that once was life
has flown with the pictures
stripped from the walls.

Evocative Write.

this is heart gripping. So sad, yet so true. Makes me think of a divorce, or a illness. Makes me yearn for my childhood home. Great poem.

Oh my, I have never read a more lonely poem than this! When a home because a house, all cherished memories, love that was, and communication are lost. They will be there somewhere in the back of your mind, but only brought back again if you want them to be. To not feel life again is the worse, I can only imagine. This is worded so perfectly for this entry, if you don't win I would be surprised. . .Sharon

Sadness fills this soul full of loneliness, which is secretly begging for attention by feeling hopelessly lost. Like how you've centered your lines. Reads well. Great job! Les
