I bet that could tell a few stories, Tony. It looks like it's been down a few hard roads, and it might turn up a few ghosts in the moonlight. It's a bit of a parody on life's iterations. Giddy

Excellent handling of rhyme and meter in this. You do raise an interesting question. You describe one choice--to be out on the moonlight night, dreaming of the possibilities of the universe. Some lovely imagery in the first part--silver gown of gossamer lacework and Orion hunting dreams. The other possibility is the world as viewed on TV--all the so-called reality shows. Last part is wonderful "Why choose the shadow when we could careen/Wild with the stars and fly brave through the night? judi

Good question, why watch what is not real, when it is time to be living real life? I'd much rather be "out there" experiencing life for myself than be a couch potato.
Good descriptions throughout the poem.
Happy careening!

A beautiful muse, sir, and what a bold contrast of thought. Excellent Petrarchan form, rhyme and meter. I'm afraid the majority prefer the abstract screen, but give me the country. I have one sixer left and this one's deserving. Kenny

A wonderful poem with a sad message. It seems that people are so addicted to tv and reality shows, that the simpler ways of life are forgotten.Watching the sun come up or go down, tracking the stars moving across the summer sky are wonderful times to enjoy and reflect. More interesting than these self centered "housewives" and "rich kids", so shallow I cannot watch. cheers Judester

You make a hard case in favor of anyone choosing the direct poetry of life over the diluted and often regurgitated mirror-reflecting mirror-reflecting mirror of reality -- through the peacock's tail of NBC.
Thanks tfawcus.

Tony, how I enjoyed reading your poem so much that it also inspired me to open my eyes and see the unnecessary visualization of the mundane. Here in this particular poem you showed your inventiveness and creativeness and how resourceful you were in your metaphors and particularly your interesting rhyming's format which was neither forced, labored or strained
and your rhythm float so smoothly throughout your poem. Thank you so much for sharing imposing your work for others and may you have a happy holiday this Easter Sunday.

This meaningful poem deserves a six; however, I am all out. Reality TV has brought a totally new dimension to television. One that is fraught with all the frailness, and ego of humanity. I, too, prefer to watch perfection in the night sky.
