Hi T...
~ I really like the last stanza and how it brings today's TV into focus...
~ As if there isn't enough reality TV on, they keep piling more and more on us... Ahhh, just give my good ole country music or Andrea Bocelli, and life is good...!!
Keep Smilin'... Jax

Excellent portrayal of how many have lost touch with the true beauty of nature and the universe only to glue their eyes, rot their brains, and potato on the couch to sneer and jeer and engross themselves in the kingdom of Hollywood's zoo.

This has a nice dichotomy of thought developed across two stanzas. With beautiful imagery (draws around her limbs a silver gown) you set up the delights of watching the natural scene of night. Then you question/contrast the banality of watching TV at its worst (reality TV) as an alternative to the beauty of the night. Good sonnet form, and interesting philosophical conversation in this piece, Tony!

Reality shows in my book, suck! The Petrarchan sonnet is quite different, but then that's the great thing about it. Variety is the spice of life. Really like the rhyming scheme in this. Wonderfully written. Les

I must say that I am one of those who watch the old classic movies, NO GAME SHOWS or reality television or me. It sadden's me to think for some reality television is their only reality. I love life and can do without watching someone else's life while mine pass me by. i guess I just selfish like that. LOL
I enjoyed the poem.

A good point on how we fail to enjoy the beauty of night and prefer to immerse ourselves in soap opera scripted reality shows. People do such crass things for money.
They steal our time for one thing. A wonderful sonnet.

Yeah, I like survivor too. Just kidding. I thought your poem sends a great message. A message which is best suited for our youth these days. Your imagery was beautiful. Well done.

Thoughts that many of us share. To compare reality with that strange and artificial presentation that seems to fill so much of what should be entertaining, is a brilliant piece of writing in a well chosen form. Nicely done. Peter

This is not only a good piece, it is presented by an excellent picture of an old TV that was worn out showing reality shows. If we didn't waech reality shows we would get to bed earlier and feel more like working the next day. I love my TV

Bravo, Ray! Someone who echoes my sentiments exactly, with true subtle wit and delight. I could happily put a machine gun thru my TV set as some people (who should remain nameless in my vicinity) are 'stuck' to this damned thing. I like YOUR TV set MUCH MORE!! What a perfect ending you've give us:
Why choose the shadow when we could careen
Wild with the stars and fly brave through the night?
HEAR HEAR!
