How true. It's all about appearance, but doesn't what's inside count for anything? Guess not. Love the second line: "labels cannot delete age" hits it right on the nail. You should be proud of this little gem. LOL. don't mean proud as meant it. Les

Amen to that! I heard someone say once that if you wanted to be perceived as genuine you should wear designer clothes, because I guess knock-offs would make you seem fake?!? One of the craziest things I think I've ever heard...great message here in your poem, and so eloquently stated.

Hi.ah yes, beauty is skin deep and gets old fast. It is an odd world where labels on your clothes denotes everything about you. Good poem, commentary

Yes, absolutely correct. We judge a little too much in regards material worth. We even instil that we are better , the more money we have, but age and time is usually a wake up call, and often by then it is too late.
The time is now. Value the character, the soul, the personality, and last but not least, the heart.
Best wishes,
RGstar

and why spend hundreds of dollars to carry around a name when other products are just as good (or better). Great message in a short poem.

Amen! This poem says it well. Very seldom, in a funeral home, do I hear talk of how the guest of honor shopped for certain brands. Often I hear about the kind of person the were, however.

Oh yes, you are right, in funerals we don't talk about brands, we talk about characters. Very well said. Thanks too, for the five stars.

I totally agree with this one, nassus! Pride is a downfall for many of us - and as for dress, what does it matter if it is cheap? In these economic times it is a wonder designer labels still exist but I suppose they have their place for some people. Best wishes and good job, Pete :)

Yes, my friend, I also wonder in times of recession people still flock to designer shops. Well pride and vanity I guess, are age-old sins. Thanks for the five stars.

This is an excellent poem using this very limiting poetic expression, there is so much packed into the expressive, descriptive narrative! It's true that God grants us life, we came without anything, and leave it without! Well done, blessings, Roy.
