This is a beautiful heartfelt story
where possessions are worth more than a child's love
one cold heart fading away alongside her faded home
thanks for sharing
regards

Excellent, Sharyn, simply excellent! Your free verse writing is always so balanced and powerfully evocative. Rarely, a word out of place. This loss sounds like it's been coming for some time now. Dementia? (Her cluttered brain flutters) Your mother's ways of keeping the house so tidy, organised and adorned clearly defined her personality, your home, and your childhood. It is such a poignant and sad line that you choose to start on (title) and finish on:Don't worry about the wrinkles now.....I'm sorry for your loss!

She's still alive but sliding away, unfortunately - hard to watch, as she always had a fine intelligence. And yes, she's always been defined by her OCD stuff - she was the child of 2 really over the top alcoholics, and always blamed them bitterly for her lack of ability to feel. Unfortunately I and my sisters bore the brunt of it when growing up as she could never let it go. Blame makes people bitter, and 'stuck'. But I've learned many lessons, right? And I'm sure I'll be back in Australia in the not too distant future - a mixed blessing!
Bless you for your lovely and sensitive reading my dear - so much appreciated!
