I enjoyed your latest installment of Thursday's Child.

You cover so much territory with just a few well-chosen words.

I am sorry to lean that alcoholism will mar these happy new beginnings.

I see that dark times are coming.

Hugs,d

Thank you Diane for your thoughtful and encouraging review. Alcoholism does hurt everyone it touches.

I feel an empathy with this poem , being a Thursday child myself LOL and yes I constantly feel in everything I do that I have to take the 'long way around'- very interesting reflection

A lovely story through rhyme. It was uplifting and pleasant despite dads shortcomings.Mom certainly made a huge and vital difference in this child's life. What a lovely tribute to Mom.

The resilience of Thursday's child continues to shine bright. A little way to go , but the form is in the making, and the beginning is ever eventful. This write feels as though it is about to begin, or let loose the twists and turns of a life.
Well done,
best wishes,
RGstar

Really good use of rhythm and rhyme with this chapter in her life. Good to see she recovered from the axe handle. Just two minor fixes- dad's should be ...dad was a drunk to stick with the verb tense. Will guide should be would guide.

Thank you for your thoughtful and insightful review. Thank you too for the suggestions. I definitely changed the verb tense and I reworked the 'dad was drunk' line. Very helpful.

This is a childhood memory recalling the growing up years of the Thursday child, her trip to gaining confidence and finding her roots with her mother, as she learned lessons from her Mom, that will define her future. I enjoyed reading your poem.
