"If a month ain't got no R, then let it be
'Cause if you cut,
you're shore to harm,
that bush or mighty tree
I did not know that. I try to avoid using axes in any month containing a vowel myself...Mt wife doesn't go along with that
But, I am no gardener. I muck around building things, she grows them
I enjoyed your words very much

Are you dangerous to the trees or just dangerous wielding the ax? LOL Thank you for this great review. What do you build?
:-) Carolyn

Thank you very much for that information , though it may be different in other countries, depending on the weather etc. But this was a really an eye opener. Here,in India I have heard my mother say that pruning is done before the rains.I liked your free flowing poem, was very smooth to read and very fluid.

Thanks Sanku, and you are correct I am sure. That old 'sage'advice has worked for me as the months not to cut are the hottest part of the year. I am so glad you enjoyed this one and the six star award is amazing. :-) Carolyn

I love that you have a means of remembering this. You'll notice I bookmarked it. I'm a bit confused by your description that it's free verse. The end rhyme is a strong and well done element in the verse.

I will let you name the form for me, ok. LOL Only 19 to go in this National Poetry Month challenge I accepted. I am glad you enjoyed the write, The months are easy for me to remember now, they have an R in them. I guess the rest are to hot for trimming, at least in our area, sap is up or whatever....Have a great weekend :-) Carolyn

Sherry, I started out free verse and had that in my description. Then I changed to Quatrains and negleted to change the info. I fixed it. Thanks for seeing that. :-) Carolyn

I have had success with this method, even though I obtained the information from a humorous source, it has worked for me. Good luck. :-) Carolyn

I am certainly going to try it!

Carolyn, this is great advice! It will make it so much easier to remember when it is set to rhyme. I love the picture, too. Great job with rhyme and meter, my friend. :0 GracieAnn

Thanks GracieAnn. It has always worked for me, and I have heard it many times from the 'older' generation. Glad you enjoyed it. :-) Carolyn

This is a particularly apt and fitting post from the author in this piece of writing. I just spent the day in the garden and my lawn is just starting to grow again after I dug it up and reseeded it. I had to do it because U just bought the house and the lawn was full of stones and bricks.

If a month don't have no R (this I can relate to rain) for even learning this simply method has created absolutely beautiful lines of the Spring gardeners the perfect green thumb florist of the landscapes. I love this true poem for the beauty of taking care of Mother nature slowing as we wait in our own outdoor rocking chair.

And the funny fella that shared the information with me lived by that rule. He had beautiful plants. Thank you for this great review. :-) Carolyn

This is an enjoyable read a very good lesson about trimming. Now there's no excused to do it wrong, smiles. Sometimes it's also good to trim ourselves of excesses - maybe those months without the "R" is a good time then? :))
Good write and well expressed with a lesson for all.
Cheerio, hugs, Ritchie. :))

So now my plants are lush and green
I know just when to trim
While tending garden and my yard
I gladly give all praise to Him
Nice to know girl. I wondered if there was a special time and now may resort to using your guide.

Aha, so the funny little farmer with the terrible grammar will affect all of us in a positive way. Wish I could tell him, but he is long gone to his maker. I can't imagine anything not growing well in St. Thomas, no matter what the month. Have a wonderful weekend Pam, :-) Carolyn

Actually, not much grows here in STT. Mangos and avocados and a few other fruit but everything else, nope.
