I don't know what you are going through but I can tell by your words that you've been hurt by someone you care about. It can be heart-wrenching to be disillusioned by a parent.

Thank you for the sympathetic review and numerous stars. We grow up viewing our parents as heroes and role models. It's one thing to realize they're only human and capable of making mistakes but a whole nother thing to uncover truths that are so unfathomable, you wish they were never born. That the world would have been better off without them in it, even if that de-exists yourself. I'm grateful to have FS as my outlet.

It's hard to know (as I expect you planned) which parent is the betrayer. Though my read is that she is behind bars for revenge taken against his betrayal. But I can see other possible readings. Whichever the case may be - - - I hope your writing helps heal the rending wound.

Indeed, it most certainly is. I was reaching my breaking point and I knew something had to give. The most difficult of this process is not being able to express myself to the person in context, but am grateful to have found a way to let it out for the time being. An excellent story told in so few words. 5-7-5 format can be challenging, but you have brought it to life quite nicely. I am left wondering, however, who is behind bars here? Not that it matters. It's about the separation, right? Well done!

I leave it up to the individual reader to interpret who may be behind bars to add to the immersion, but it is a parent figure from the author's perspective.
