This poem, to me felt up lifting. After a bad storm, the rainbow comes out and the grass is so green. I felt relieved.

Carolyn, this is a well phrased write with highly descriptive language. I do have a question about the syllable count. FS says that a Tanka has:

line 1 - 5 syllables
line 2 - 7 syllables
line 3 - 5 syllables
line 4 - 7 syllables
line 5 - 7 syllables

Is this another type of Tanka? :0 GracieAnn

    Hi GracieAnn,
'The promise,' is actually rhyming quatrains, however, 'Morning has broken,', is a Tanka which you also reviewed and I am looking into your questions in that review as well. From what I understand: a Tanka (which this one is not) has 31 syllables or less and is often in 5-7-5-7-7 form, always with 5 lines. Title , if any following the word Tanka. I think rhyming is not required. Many thanks for reading. As I write a poem a day for National Poetry Month, I am also incorporating several forms, so I hope they are correct, and welcome any constructive criticism. :-) Carolyn

It's good to challenge ourselves. When I signed up Jan 2013, I didn't even know what a tanka was! LOL. Thanks for letting me know what you find out. :0 GracieAnn

Hi, Carolyn.
What a beautiful poem that shares it's own picture in your writing of spring and all it's wonder. You are doing a great job of writing a poem a day. Great picture to accompany your poem.
Bye
Rosalyne :)

This is a lovely quatrain poem with abcb rhyme. I like how you have described a spring scene so very well and then end on a romantic note. Lovely. Hugs, Debbie

Take a look at fanart, there is one that looks like a smile. I don't recall if it is digital or a regular photo. Just request rainbow. and search. Thanks and have a good evening. :-)Carolyn

Love that you're mixing up different forms with these April poems . Nice reference to hibernation and woodchucks. Spring this year does seem like a promise made long ago!

You really are finding the most lovely artwork to highlight your words, that themselves paint pictures in the reader's mind...

Wow! - 7 keepers for sure - so well done - Dinah
