Dear Barbara - Great post for your story. I loved that Paige kept her cool, and dealt swiftly with Walker. I think it makes her character more believable. A fighter you've shown her to be in the story - it suits her and this was a great strong read for your story. Seemed a clean write to me - nothing stood out as needing work.
Thanks for sharing it.

you do use a lot of dialogue, but for your style, it works.

the word "Averted" seems a little stiff, maybe a move. SHe jumped out of the way, grabbed. . .

just thinking on paper. . .

well written

Paige slammed her knee into Walker's groin. When he doubled over in pain, she ran. - She should have kicked him again for good measure.

As he lunged for her, she stretched her arm out and with her fingernails gouged his right eye. - Good girl. That's what I'm talking about, don't play the victim role. Fight back.

"I need a doctor, Bitch." - What?! He breaks into her house, assaults her and friends, but whines he needs a doctor. Screw that, let the bastard go blind.

Love it, love it, love it. I'm so glad Paige if finally taking a stand and pushing back on all the crap Walker has done to her. Man I need another chapter.

Hello:

Getting inside Paige's mind, her cool, calculating demeanor, her controlled fear revealed a new side of her.

Excellent hook at the end.

Just one question why aim a knife rather then point it?

Take care,

ray

I just figured aimed knives. I know nothing about them, but you made a good point. I will take care of it. Thank you for the kind review,

Excellent work, and you built up to it so well. Unquestionably a six. It was too bad the police weren't more on the ball, as it shouldn't have come to Walker being able to threaten Paige as he's doing now. He really thinks he has the upper hand by locking up Morgan and Mary Pat and disabling the pickup. Will Paige's ghost come to the rescue? Although it seems Paige is doing a pretty good job on her own. As suspected, Walker is interested in the treasure more than anything else. Great tension and suspense. judi

It's nice to see Paige fighting her own battles. Hope Walker gets what's coming to him. Won't the boys be surprised to find out she's not helpless! :) Nancy

Paige is such a brave woman, putting up a fight. An exciting chapter, Barbara ? I?m looking forward to the next part to find out about her friends and the treasure.

I love the silhouette picture - how I wished I could have done that to a certain poor excuse for a man some years back!!

This is original and fresh. I loved the way you had the description.

Sure! Right after you call the police." He glanced around the room. "As soon as I get the treasure, I'm leaving this town."

"There is no treasure. It's a myth." Paige paused. "If you don't get medical help, you might lose the eye or the sight might be damaged."

"I should kill you and search for the treasure myself." Walker lunged for Paige. [My pick]

Paige is an amazing woman. I would have been to scared to do anything. She was smart to fight him. Not telling what he would have done had she not defended herself. Now we need to know what happened to the treasure and her friends. I anxiously await the next chapter.

Great chapter full of suspense. I love Paige's stance against Walker, I don't think I would be brave enough to challenge him but I'm glad she was.
