I believe this is my first chapter of Savannah Love. You are correct in saying that it is not a stand alone piece, but it was written well enough - with enough- threads - to give the reader that these men were trying to figure out clues to finding a treasure. You did an excellent job, Barbara, with the dialect and dialogue. I was at the table eating pie and drinking coffee.

came tame - would the dialect version of can sound like came?
I love the story of how Bradley helped his grandson cheat at poker LOL
As the waitress, poured fresh cups - drop that comma
Interesting history of the origins of the treasure

Beautiful, Barbara. I a few errors. Just typos...

2. Paul and me's got. add apostrophe.
3. "Ya know, Sherman spent... add comma.

Nice use of dialogue to make it believable and interesting, but not over the top vernacular and punctuation.

From the writing, I could really envision the alligator, even without the photo on top.

I like how you contrast the different social classes in this book. The contrast makes for interesting reading. Nice foreshadowing of the next chapter at the end too.

Write On,

~ Jack

I don't see anything I would change in this chapter.

Hi Barbara:)
Now the pieces are starting to come together. The rumor about tunnels under Paige's mansion must be real. Amos and Clyde also heard about the possibility of a treasure. Even the card games seem to add to the trouble between the Bookman's and the Walkers. Maybe Bradley Bookman's ghost did help his grandson win the treasure from the Walkers or was he just a better card player.

Will Cash ans Billy Joe now go back hooking for the old underground railroad tunnels?

Love and Irish Hugs to add to the treasure

Roger

Bradley helping his blood cheat at cards. Now is that a gentlemanly thing to do? lol.

This is a colorful (no pun intended) and engaging scene. It reads as if I can see it (like a clip playing in my head - Billy Joe is definitely Larry the Cable Guy). It is so credible. I mean seriously, I can see a bunch of guys, and a few gals, rushing out the diner to see the gator. And of course someone would try to measure it.

This was a simple "jawing around the kitchen table" type scene that works on every level (character engagement, setting visualization, and absolutely moves the storyline).

You clearly know how to write, and keep your readers needing more. Good going.

Awwww got me going again. Glad to see you back. Hope we can get back to this soon. Getting impatient. Saw something up near the top my browser just lost it. "So ya dink ya came tame a Yankee ...I thin k I just looked at this again means "so you think you can tame a Yankee woman" does that sound right translated hehe. Bit hard "interruptin'" hehe Good work again. Hurry back.
