Poor little birdie but as they say, "in nature it is always about the survival of the strongest", however sad that may be. You captured the moment magically with both poem and picture. Well done.

Those chipmunks have insatiable appetites. Great photo to accompany this poem. I enjoy reading the 5-7-5 poetry style. Nicely done.

Thank you Joneau, yup, the squirrels get their share too.

Yep, those little critters have a voracious appetite, and they're very clever. They used to invade our bags of chips if we laid them down on the ground when we fished in Colorado. Here in Texas, we have squirrels ... lot's of them. But they can't get to the bird feeders. We have inverted cones installed on the bird feeder poles.

Wow! What a great picture and very clever 5-7-5 poem.
We don't have chipmunks over here but I can understand
the annoyance the birds must feel when their seeds are stolen.
They do look cute though.

Thank you Shirley. They are cute, so I don't mind setting out more seed.

Oh, this photograph is soooo darned cute!
Kudos to capturing the chipmunk at precisely the correct time--he appears to be posing!
Winter brings about scant food supply--birds are not the sole creatures which depend on the kindness of man.
"chipmunk cheeks"--love this alliterative conclusion.

Thank you Margaret. I good for feeding the birds, chipmunks, and squirrels about.

Hi, Treischel,
Excellent 5-7-5 poem meeting the line/syllable requirements of the form. Excellent imagery and figurative imagery. Disappointing results with the feed. Way of the wild.

Love to feed the birds
but birds watch it disappear
into chipmunk cheeks
This one is cute Tom and probably so true too. Cute little chipmunk though.

Yes, undeniably a war of nutrition and possession for that which is presented.
A nice little write Treischel. Nice colours and Image.
