This is a good story to honor Ed Kemper. He was this monster that appears out of no where. Your own home was not a safe place. I think homes can be haunted by homicide victims. Certain homes have more than their number of untimely and cruel deaths. Great work.

Thanks very much, nelliesellie, and I would have to agree with you. Hauntings are not something to be messing around with, that's for sure!

Descriptively gross, vividly bloody...I still have misgivings when I'm forced to delve into my garbage disposal to retrieve a twist tie or some object that doesn't belong after seeing this in movies. I will never swim in the ocean because of 'Jaws'. Now, if I ever move again, I WILL demand the realtor inform of any murders, decapitations, ghosts, etc...in a potential house. You and I both have misgivings about the construction of things. lol! I like the 'boys in the basement'....Best in the contest Dean! I could not find any spags. A.

Thank you very much, Author Unknown. Not everyone likes the music and/or sound FX that I apply to my poetry and stories, but the one's that do seem to be really passionate about it, so I keep doing it. I am very happy to know that you enjoy it...

Well, I've been told we should let our words carry the tales, but it's fun to use music and videos once in a while. I just don't know how to embed. lol! Keep up the good work.

I agree, the words (story) has to come first, it is paramount to the overall success of the story as a whole. That is what I focus on first, and foremost. The pictures and sounds with not made one ioda of a difference if the story itself is horribly written. I also submit some of these stories to magazines for publication, and there is no sound available there...yet.

The story is the meat, the pictures and sounds are just the gravy.

:) yes...and neat that you have magazines taking your work. I recently won second place and a 250.00 prize...a first for me. I was stunned...and just thrilled. Here's to more good luck for us both?

Well! This is certainly grisly!! As time goes by, I get more and more leery of kitchen sinks! Those garbage disposal units seem to have a mind of their own..and between Haven, Supernatural and assorted horror movies, even a full sink is creepy! This happened SO fast! Yikes! I think I will no longer leave dishes soaking in the sink!!!

BTW - I loved this visual/imagery writing! : the veins bulging from his neck, taut and rigid. Like newly laid rebar in concrete., that and the line about what Fran's last thought was!

Nice write :-)

i'm never usually a reader of short stories but this is a cracker. Loving your author's notes to substantiate the reality of your story as feasible. THIS! is how you write a horror story!!

Hah, thank you Dip! I know, you rarely read stories and give reviews on them, as poetry is more your style. But, I sure do appreciate it when you read mine!

    Thanks again, my friend!

I've got to say that this one is disturbing, mostly because of your discriptive talent, but also due to its factual roots. After reading your author's notes, it was impossible not to ache for the victims of Edward Kemper and their families.

Yes, thanks Cry. We all tell our children ( those of us who have children) that monsters do not exist, they are just make believe. However, there ARE monsters out there, lurking in the darkness, and Edward Kemper is just one of many.

Thanks for the fantastic review, my friend!

Had to laugh reading the first few paragraphs. Reminded me of how things go around here, fortunately, the rest of the story is not familiar. Excellent description and such a great jolt for a short story. Very well written. Couldn't wait to get to the next sentence as I read through and the story flowed so well, building tension as one goes. Really scary to think about the last part being real. You never know about people.

Thanks for reading and reviewing this one for me, ragamuffin. I needed good constructive feed back like yours about it. It's up for an award in our area for Halloween.

Thanks so much for your encouragement...

What can I say that I didn't love about this grueling story and the garbage disposal. Such a horrific imagination that I love so much when reading your stories. The pictures are absolutely picture. Do you find them or is this another one of your talents? Excellent work and I truly feel you are up there with Stephen King! whom I love for his movies and books. Dean this is exceptional. Am looking forward to more of that other story you were writing with JM.

Thanks very much, Nicci, and I am currently working on the next installment of Ouija's Kube now.

I love it when someone mentions my name in the same breath as Stephen Kings. That just makes my week!

You know your way around blood and gore Dean, the story was very cool[dark] and the visuals were powerful, which is what horror stories should be ALL about :) The notes were also great and a nice touch to your work. I thoroughly enjoyed it Dean!

this is very well written, dean, you did an excellent job writing this story that is based on truth, how terrible is that for somebody to do something like that. excellent imagery portrayed
