I imagine this one will be the one to beat.

I'm a dog-lover, so it was a little hard to read about the Rotisseries turning to the dark side. Flanagan was just the sort of jerk to teach an animal the command to "kill", although, I suppose the ghost of a Satan worshiper might have some powers of doggy-persuasion without the dogs having previous experience of the "attack" variety.

It seems kinda unjust that the ghost went after Flanagan and not Marjorie, who, after all, was the one behind the pilfering of the ghost's body. Simon too, but he got his, didn't he? Not that Flanagan was worthy of any sort of fairness, (from anyone.)

I'm hoping that the photos you used were of mannequins, and not actual human remains.

Your figure of 5% seems low for pit bull density in my neck-of-the-woods. At least one third of the dogs in the local shelters would, (I'm guessing here based on the pages of photos they put in the newspaper during their adoption drives) on any given day be pit bull or pit-bull mix. What's scary to me is that we humans breed these dogs to not only be aggressive but also to have the power and instincts that are so deadly. (I'm a Collie and English Setter fan, and while both are capable of biting the hand that feeds them, I bet it's pretty rare for them to EAT that hand.)

Golly, I have a lot to say tonight. : )

What I admire most about this story, besides your usual attention to detail, is the craft (craftiness) you employed in weaving the timelines of separate-yet-related events together. It made for an ending no one would have guessed. And like any great Halloween story, there are still two killers on the loose.

Thanks very much for the detailed feed back, Cry. I certainly agree with you, we breed these animals and teach them to be what they are. I own 2 miniature Dachshunds and a Chihuahua. None of them are tearing anyone up, anytime soon, (although the Chihuahua acts like she could take on Cujo, LOL...)

Thanks again for the excellent review. Oh, I almost forgot. The pics are from Halloween props and horror movies, so, don't worry, they're not real crime scene photos. I do have a morbid and warped mind, but I wouldn't do that to ya...would I?

this is very well written, dean, you did an excellent job writing this story about the perfect murder that was foiled by the wife who was creating perfect murders of her own, vivid imagery presented. a few spags i noticed. you had a typo in bouncers and haggard instead of haggered. good luck in the contest

Okay you had me wondering there for a moment or two but now I see how it all went up in smoke as they say. Creepy- my brother -in-laws son had some pretty mean dogs and you had to be real careful not to get close to them for if they smell the least little sniff of blood they were attacking the prey.they used these pit bulls to hog hunt and they were mean as a snake. They messed with the wrong guy one night and he butchered all those dogs.He put tranquillizer darts in a gun and put them asleep and took them into the woods and killed them. THE BOY WAS IN JAIL ON A DRUG CHARGE AT THE TIME. He never owned another dog again

Holy crap, country! That story's more horrifying than the one I wrote! Killed all of those dogs after tranquilizing them...

Well, I will say this for him, he certainly took a unique approach..

Thanks so much for your great review!

I really liked all the twists and turns this tale took. Female serial killers are rare, so that was interesting. As a former mail carrier - I have no real love for dogs. I think this tale is brilliant.

Thanks very much for your excellent feed back, Barbara. I knew that female serial killers were very rare, and that's what I was counting on the readers to know, too. I didn't want anyone to suspect her until near the very end.

Do you think it's appropriate for a Halloween horror story? I hope so...
    :)Thanks so much, again!

This is not something I would normally read, and I found parts of this story quite sickening. However, you have an excellent plot. Your writing style is impeccable and your ideas brilliant. I did not look too hard at the illustrations as they are a bit stomach churning. But your layout is perfect. You have an enormous creative ability, and your work is distinctive.

I certainly appreciate the time you've invested in reading this, and I thank you for your support.

Dean, just the pictures iwe scanned and the sound affects and all of the warnings just means it's not something we can handle. We know you are a grand writer so we're calling it a five, and saying God loves you and so do wee.

They say I'm doing real good. I can't put any pressure on my foot for another couple of weeks as the hip bone had to have six weeks to heal. They say it will take at least 8 month for to be functional again. A hip replace ment would have healed quicker because I wouldn't have had to wait for the hip bone to heal but they gave me 2mg of morphine the night beofre and it almost killed me so I couldn't be put out, they did a spinal,so they couldn't do a hip replacement. I do so appreciate your kindness and prayers. God loves you and so do I.

Yeah, heh-heh. It's a very deep, very dark cave. Lots of monster in there, too!

Thanks for the great review, amahra. I appreciate it, very much!
