What beautiful words and they say so much. It truly is a sad world and many of the things we see do tend to make us blue. Just should not be that way.. it's changed so much in the last few years..

Wow! Dean, this is the best, my friend:

"My spirit has left its mortal shell;

I'm bound for heaven, maybe hell?

I won't be here to see the pain,

humanity's crying falls like rain..."

And the graphics are superb, too! Bravo, my friend. Bob

This is an amazing write Dean! You've truly captured in a poem the sad state of many aspects of life in the world today. Things have changed so much, in many ways for the better and in many for the worse. Your poem flows so well with excellent rhythm and rhyme. The animated artwork is very fitting.

Thanks for sharing this thought-provoking piece :)

Blessings,
Christine

Exceptional Poem! This poem sadly reflects the ways the world is today. The author did an outstanding job conveying a descriptive and emotional poem. The reader found this poem extremely thought provoking and very sad. The music was perfect and complimented the poem.
Thank you, harmony13

This is a terrific write, Dean! Love the sentiments expressed ... that basically this world has gone to hell in a hand-basket and it makes you blue. I think many readers will 100% agree with those sentiments.

"humanity's crying falls like rain" is my fave line. Strong emotions invoked with your choice of words.

Great visual created with "our world a tear-filled water balloon". Your choice of picture is perfect and befits your poem and vice-versa.

Wish a had a sixer left to dole out ... this one is certainly worthy.

Good work. You have stated with style what many of us are feeling as we looked around. It seems like we have forgotten all that we have or are taking it for granted.

Yes, even me, lancellot. I usually shy away from the nightly news, yet for some reason, I caught it on that night, and...watched. I think I'll stick to my old horror flicks from now on. They are a lot less scary.

This is such a meaningful piece of writing, Dean. Folks have just about destroyed the resources of this wonderful planet called earth, now they are turning on themselves. Children aren't taught manners, or to respect others. Many are like bands of marauders in such of plunder or human prey. You've captured much of the despair that I am afraid will only get worse. Senator Moynihan, whom I admired, cautioned in a Time's article back in the 1990s that America was heading to where we are today because it lacked shame. That was one of the most prescient articles of the time that foretold of the wretched future for America we are experiencing today. I didn't mean to go on and on, but this one grabbed me.

I love this poem so much, because it hits close to home in so many ways. We have become a bitter, scared society. I love that you used the word blue so often, it defines how I feel after reading it and realizing how far back we have fallen. I couldn't read the author notes, the black kind of disappeared, which is sad because I would have liked to see what you said about it. Nice work, overall.

Thanks, TJ, I truly appreciate that, my friend. I'll have to look into fixing those author's notes. I don't know what happened there...

Certainly, there is a lot of misery to see in this world, and you are apparently in a position to see it. You correctly identify the kids, strangers, old people, the homeless and the hungry as the pains of this earth. Well said.

Congratulations on the picture you have created at the top. However, I must note that the tiny blue letters on the black background made for a tough read. Contrast is lacking.

Sorry about the contrast, vapros, I did intend to brighten up the font a bit, but we moved into a new home and just recently had internet service restored. I will try and do something about it...
