Hi Dean

Congratulations on selection for POM ... I might as well say congrats for the win as well.... just getting in early. Well you certainly 'fleeced' us at the booth. A fine poem and as usual magnificently presented. I could listen to that track all day.

I've read your poem a number of times and each time been distracted before I reviewed. Finally I make it. You express some excellent sentiments here ... a few of us seemed to have been thinking along similar lines tis past month. All the devastation that appears to happen far too often.

Perfect meter and rhyme in beautifully conveyed expressions of your feelings about what seems to be, decline in the goodness of humanity. A great play on "blue" and use as personification. A wonderful poem. Warm hugs ....... hang around and keep on writing ... Lovinia xoxoxo

What a beautiful poem on the state of this planet--from a very unique perspective. This departing soul, bound for parts unknown, has nothing to lose. He or she can look back and say, "This is what I know I'm leaving, either way." And it's drenched in sadness and pity for those left behinds, the young and the old. Dean, your rhythm and meter are so strong and clear all through this work. Not a misstep anywhere. Stanzas four, five, and six do an exceptional job of summarizing the situation without condemning anyone. It's just a soulful sort of "I wish you could see what I see" longing to share from this soul. It has a beauty to it. And that last line makes it all very clear. This departing person can see that things are blue in the most obvious sense of the word--melancholy. That's the emotion he or she is sharing with us.
Just beautifully done. Exceptionally creative. I wish I had a six to share. I hope a virtual will do. So sorry.

Thanks so much, vkmack. I am very happy that this poem connected with you. I believe it's how a lot of us view our beleaguered world today, just one Big Blue Marble...

I'm very touched and humbled by such a spectacular review!

Good luck again, but I don't think you'll need it.

A fine poem, a hard life lesson. Where does the anger of the world come from? Good luck in the contest, a truly beautiful piece of art is your lovely poem.

Thanks very much for the reciprocal read and review, Kim. I truly appreciate that.

As for the poem you've reviewed, I was in a rather melancholy mood the evening that I wrote it. I never dreamed it would get such an amazing response.

Thanks again for the outstanding review. It's very much appreciated...

Such true and sad sentiments in this poem. It tells a story of our journey on this cold and sometimes lonely planet which is so over populated and yet lonely. Strange.
It culminated in a clever last line.
Well done, Dean, you've got my vote for this one.

Phenomenal! Finding lots of kindred spirits on FanStory. Great takes on the world we live. I always find that the most difficult things go down best with a glass of "rhyme."
Extra bonus for the musical interlude! Really enjoyed it and most humbly request that you take a look at some/all of my works depending on your time. Here are a few attention getter's (I hope). "Maestro", "Soulmates or Cellmates" "Straight Line" and "Unique." Great poem!!
