Dear Dean, This is a well written poem. I enjoyed it so much. I agree. When I was young I drank out of a water hose when I was hot from playing in the Oklahoma sun. When I dropped my candy in the dirt, I washed it off. Kids need to do that now, not play on the computer all the time. We lost our heart along the way. Thank you for sharing this lovely poem. Thank you for sharing the music. Shirley

Thanks so much, Shirley, I agree with you 100%. Kids just don't have much imagination anymore, and when we were kids, we had to have. What does that say about our future as a society? Imagination is the key to art, inventiveness and innovation. It's essential, but everything, even reading, is taken care of for them in the imagination dept. I think too much technology is never a good thing, we need to rely on our own wits once in a while...

I felt sad when I read this awesome poem, because when I was a kid, there were no electronic gadgets and we all survived very well without them. We were more in touch with nature. You said it all. Beautiful poem, wonderful graphics and great choice of music.

There have been many moments in history that were much worse ( Cuban missile crisis, the endless stream of assassinations in the sixties). The difference- then we were plugged in, people in the streets talking about the problems, trying to do something about it. Now, tech, Xbox, etc.- so much disconnection that ennui rules, the rain bottled inside until it seems as if the world is a water balloon waiting for a pin.

You've got that right, ravenblack. There is such a general, massive disconnect from humanity these days. People rarely talk to each other, especially kids. My daughter had a girlfriend spend the night at our house this past weekend. They were sitting not ten feet away from each other and communicating on cells by...TEXTING! Seriously? I made them give me the cell phones and actually talk to each other for ten minutes...UGH!

Dean this is a beautiful write weighted down by the pathos of today's reality. When I find myself pondering the same, I try to tell myself it's just my age and I am seeing things through the eyes of that older generation that I used to mock for their fear born negativity. And I wonder if the young share the same perspective. Is it because we look harder, or God forbid are we right?

Thanks very much, DALLAS01, for your wonderful review.

I think it's a little bit of both, I'm afraid. God forbid we sat inside all day on a gorgeous summer day. Mom would've killed us! Besides, outside was where all of your friends were, where all the fun was at. Not sitting at a computer on Facebook...

Great work! I so agree with what you've written... but I do have a slightly different outlook. We humans have done our damndest to screw things up... but God's in control! He created a perfect world, and in the sense of the planet itself, in spite of our damages we've inflicted, it's still a perfect planet.

The Deceiver has succeeded in tempting (today's Sunday School lesson topic!) the vast majority of Mankind with his wormy rotten apple--that shines so beautifully on the outside-- but even there, I see so much good in most people, that it helps me to overlook, pray about, the relatively small percentage that succeeds in catching the mass media (a tool of Abaddon's) for it to display, in all it's sordidness.

Great music choice too!

You've created a marvelous bit of artwork, Dean, to support your powerful verse. It is truly a magnificent piece of work, with a excellent poem.

Dean Kuch--A prophetic lament rendered by scribe's poetic
post. The preface, title, author notes and verbiage is a
sad, but candid indictment of our world and the status quo.
I can not with a clear conscious disagree with any negativ-
ity written herein. What's really gross, is I don't think
we have a solution for reversing this terrible trend, ex-
cept PRAYER. Melancholic read, but well related. teafor2

My dear, dear friend. You are so in tune with your surroundings. Yes, there is a lot of pain and suffering in our world. We were discussing with my dad, tonight, how very much our world has changed.

There was a time, back in my grandma's day when the entire family could rely on what the father brought home. People lived simple lives, in the fields, a man's income was enough to clothe, feed and nurture the family. Children would go to school hand-in-hand with their friends. In the evenings they would play in the streets bare-footed, happy and free, being children.

When a family hit rough times, the church, via the families that would all visit it, would pitch in to help the family through the rough spell and back on their feet.

Women would stay home and raise their children into fine adults, pappa was honoured and respected, as was momma.

The older generation were part of the family--not sent to old-age homes--and would share their life stories with the children.

Those...those were the days, my dear, dear friend Dean Kuch. You and your poems are absolutely amazing and have touched my heart once more.

Dean,

Such a thoughtful expressive poem is so worthy of 6 stars...not only have you penned your rhymed couples well, your words are clear and your point easy to understand...though some of what you have said is true, we are making progress, indeed more can be done...there is still much work to be done, all of us must take part...I sincerely appreciate this poem, and thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.

Hugs
Victoria

You have really reached in your heart and penned a great poem. I wonder if God looks down at us in disappointment? I would if I was Him.
