Strange things continue to happen. Such intrigue.
Seems to me someone is trying to scare Paige away, so they can get into and search the house undisturbed. Must be something hidden in there, I fancy.
I'm so enjoying this story, Barbara - Margaret

Billy Joe pushes all the 'Southern' good ol boys buttons acting the country buffoon as a foil to Cash. The setting is well described and the caution of the two appropriate to their astute observations..the hand print.. a good tension builder indeed. The PI is the added touch to a well written piece de resistance.

Hi, barb. I hope you are doing well. Been a while since I've gotten to see your work...Been away as I told you, I believe.
Anyway, this chapter of writing stands on its own and is exemplary. I suggest this if you want:
""Maybe she knows, but doesn't know she knows." (Perhaps Maybe she knows, but doesn't know she does.)
Bravo, barb! Great write in my umble opinion. Bob

Well, the door was unlocked and there is a hand print on the car, so it doesn't sound like a ghost, maybe someone trying to scare away Paige. Perhaps there is something of value hidden int he house.

Hi, Barbara. Six stars for the chills down the spine factor. Strange things keep happening in Paige's home. The parlor's been ransacked, and Cash and Billy Joe think the intruder's searching for something. I like Billy Joe's answer to the cigarette--a toothpick. There's the happening of the door being unlocked that the guys were sure had been locked. Bringing in the P.I. to investigate after they find a handprint on Paige's car (was it getting dusty?) sounds like a good idea. Don't worry about posting just once a week. You're chapters are worth the wait. judi

Hi, Barbara, the relationship between Cash and Billy Joe is very real, and also amusing. Their affection comes through so well.
So the intruder left a handprint, I'm looking forward to finding out who it belongs to!
Looking forward to the next.

It looks like the ghost is innocent of trashing the downstairs. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read.
