I loved fishing, but not hunting. I could fell in this chapter, how each character is growing, specially in Cash and Peige's relationship. Even the dog, plying his parts.
A very good chapter, as always!
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas Barbara!

This is just really great back and forth dialog..
"A dog's a lot of responsibility. He's not going to stay cute and cuddly." Cash raised him up and checked. "He's a male and looks like a Labrador Retriever. He could get up to eighty pounds. Are you sure you don't want to find a nice home for him?"

I love dogs and love the happy ending of your story so I am a contented camper tonight. You succeeded in adding conflict and drama to the plot so it held interest.

A cute and very pleasant read. Puppies are always a nice addition. [And kittens] Because they are cute and cuddly. I like the caring touch this adds to the book.

Hello there Barbara. It is Christmas morning and cold as heck here sothis chapter seemed to warm me up. The puppy was a nice twist that I wasn't expecting. Then there is the ATF. Good twists. I hope your Christmas has been cheerful

I thought this was written well, and I am glad Paige decided to keep the puppy. It's a good sign when I want to know what this story is about, and find out what happens next. Well done.

Labs are great dogs for families, but they are without a doubt the dumbest dogs man has ever created. (Most domesticated dog breeds are man-made nowadays.) I'm surprised the ATF men didn't seem too worried for civilian safety. Moonshiners are kind of like drug dealers, ya know? Packing guns and ready to defend their illegal business, but these men seem kind of lighthearted about the whole thing.

Thank you for the kind review and Merry Christmas and have a blessed New Year!!!! Actually Labs are highly intelligent and extremely trainable. That's why they are service dogs and drug dogs.

Barbara,
I enjoyed this chapter, partly because my wife is a dedicated dog lover. She volunteers once a week at the local Humane Society shelter, and we have two dogs at home.
It looks like Paige has a new friend, and I wonder what the ghost will think of a dog that lives indoors. I also have a pair of comments:
"He appeared to be injured. I couldn't leave him out here by himself." This is an interesting touch. The dog's gender has not been identified, and both Cash and the revenuers call the critter an "it." Paige sounds like a dog lover.
"Let me see this little guy." Paige handed Cash the dog. You have Cash talking, but Paige does the action. That threw me when I first read it. Why not, "Let me see this little guy." Cash reached for the dog.

Oh, how fabulous! Great chapter, Barbara. 'Course, I've a soft spot for puppy-dogs, and how strange that you named your dog Morgan and I named my shepherd Morgan.
Great flow, good dialogue and excellent descriptions.
Well done indeed.
