This is a nicley told account from a POV often neglected in modern accounts of The War Between the States. Excellent dialogue.

Thank you for the kind review.
By the way, I work up in the middle of the night and forgot to mention something to you and it bothered me. The CID officers aren't regular officers, they are Warrant Officers, anywhere from one - five. The MP's have regular officers.

I didn't know that. When I was in the army in 1950, the division CID commander was a regular bird colonel. Things change, I guess.

Yes, they have. After the fatal vision case at fort Bragg is when things really changed and CID was taken out of the regular command and they are they're on their own, so they have authority to investigate all.

Good chapter, barb. Nice, conventional people. I haven't met people who court and go to church in such a long time this reads like historical fiction. LOL! Brings back good memories, though. I remember going to church with my first boy friend. I enjoyed reading about it. Well done. Couldn't spot any spags.

Barbara,

Now that I can give you six stars, I will. I really enjoyed this chapter. We'll see what happens when Cash and Paige walk into the church with its old-fashioned congregation. I love it that Paige is almost always a step ahead of Cash. Great comedy and quite a change from your previous grim book.

I enjoyed this chapter, Barbara. Lighthearted and fun banter between the two of them. Got a chuckle out of Cash's comment about the war. I've spent quite a bit of time in the south, and they certainly haven't forgotten it!

I like the way their relationship is developing.

Hugs, Av

Thank you for the kind review. I had a reviewer question me about it. Yes, some Southerns are still fighting the war.

Excellent Romance Fiction! The author writes well and keeps the reader interested with just enough detail.
The read is thought provoking and made me think about what would happen next. I always enjoy this author's work.

Cash and Paige are getting closer.... Will they end up being a couple? I like the flow of this. As always another great chapter. Deorre:)

Hi Barbara :)

Good dialogue exchanges, a bit stilted or stiff. Some of the speeches seem tacked on and come off flat. Several lines read like unnecessary chatter. However the book is set in the south and many of those folks never stop yacking.

Good to see you're not [turning toward] -- [turning away] and opening narrative lines with ING words, however, you should keep an eye on starting narrative lines with [as}.

BTW: How does a character try to hide a giggle? Let Paige have her giggle rather than try to hide it.

Not bad at all.

Ted

Even though this was a short chapter, you filled it with great dialogue and showed us how the relationship between Paige and cash is not strained or forced in any way. I liked the way that you showed them as not only attracted to each other, but as good friends. Paige straightening Cash' tie before they walked into church was an excellent touch, as was his concern with the bright coral-colored dress that revealed too much.
Continuing good effort, irish

Hullo Barbara ....

I enjoyed the little bit of dialogue between Cash and Paige on their way to Church with each one, apparently, trying to do what the other one wanted.
There are two small changes needed ...
* You have - They're already here. He went around ... this should be - They're already here." He went around ...
* You have - As they stood at the solid oak door, Paige stop and straightened ...this should be - Paige stopped
and ..
* You have - with hand on the small of Paige's back ... which should be - with his hand on ....

Now, I look forward to the next chapter.
Love from ... Nanette Mary.
