My only suggestion is the same as the one where you just put the date at the top. The characters introduce themselves as they enter the story.

Yes, I really enjoy how your description is taking me to Georgia! I would say not to worry about the people who want you to change the dialogue of the southerners because it gives so much more depth to their character construction and makes your story so much more emersive. I like where the story is heading and can't wait to read more!
