Hi Barb,

I'm seeing lot's of issues for Cash, but then, that's why one roots for him! I'm really enjoying your story. Although, I'm trying my best to fall asleep at my computer, so will have to call it a night.

:: Typo
Paige opened the door allowing the officers and Cash (to) enter.

:: FYI :: Inverted dialogue tag :: Editors hate them ::

No disrespect intended. I was scolded in my work group big time for using them, so I changed my ways! But, please, use or lose, as you see fit.

:: Should read, 'Billy Joe offered.'::
"I heard two ladies," offered Billy Joe.

Okay, off to bed
Cheers & Keep Smilin'... Jax

I had never heard about the inverted dialogue. In my novel that had been published, my editor or my publisher never said a word about them. I used them so I don't begin the paragraphs the same all the time.

LOL... I got chewed out a couple of times, so, boy, do I try to watch it! Every once in a while when I'm proofing, I'll run across one, and BOY, do I change it PDQ!!

Another one I learned about is using 'unnecessary dialogue tags' leading into the character speaking. I was taught to let their movement/action indicate their speaking and then identify after the fact, if needed, by, he said, Kaylee said, etc.

Once I learned the right way and put it into practice, it makes a load of sense.

Especially doing away with Kaylee said, "I'm going to town.

I've learned to word it, "Grady, while I'm in town, do you need anything?"

Does away with the need for a tag. ('-')

    Okay, I'm off my soapbox!

    Have a great weekend.... Cheers!

Hi Barbara,

I suppose it will be a while before you identify the ghost for us. Can't wait to find out who it is. I saw no spag and once again your descriptions are very good. Thank you for sharing.

As amazing as it may seem, I know SCAD. My youngest daughter is an artist. That was one of the schools she looked at when she was thinking of attending an art school.

The story is developing well. I like the way you introduced the mischievous ghost who likes to hide things like paint brushes.

Another good chapter, Barbara. Paige is cute and I'm enjoying her interactions with Cash.

I didn't see any spag or anything to correct. Great job!

Gayle

I must have missed this post so I went back to read it before going on to the next chapter. I'm glad I did because this was a great chapter to read. I can feel the suspense slowly building, and I love the humorous exchanges between Paige and Cash. I also found Cash's doubts about Paige calling him to be very endearing, only to have his confidence boosted again when Paige turned around to smile at him.

Your story telling is wonderful, and I can't wait to see how all of this unfolds.

Well, Paige has had a thoroughly embarrassing time so far. Ghosts will be a welcome excuse for her mishaps. Well done, Barbara. :) nancy

Hello again Barbara
I look forward to your name in my in box because know there will be another superb chapter, and was not mistaken. like the way this is going. My money's on Cash to be persistent to be making a bigger play for Paige. I'll have to wait to see if I was right or??????

Fairly interesting. You've got a lot going on here. At first it was a little hard to follow (not having read the previous chapters), but then the part about the paint brushes missing perked my interest. There's a nice air of mystery here. I look forward to seeing what happens next.
