I enjoyed reading this very much. When you hear that a person has been through a tramatic event, you always wonder what happened, and how it's been for them. Thankyou for sharing your story. It's good that you are content again, and I'm glad you ended the story on happier ground. I can only imagine how it would be to be disabled, and suffer such pain. I do know depression, though, and feel a great empathy for you on both counts. Take care :)

I know what you mean. Sometimes the inspiration comess and takes over, but without that it's hard. For me the inspiration comes at night, or early moring when I wake up and I try to write down my dreams. Sometimes, anyway. Thanks for writing.

To me this is a great addition to your story. You show how you have taken the worst possible part of your life, and are making into a positive. So many people would have given up completely but your determination to move past the physical and emotional difficulties is inspirational to say the least. I commend you for not only acknowledging your need to get your life "back on track" but then doing so. This must be much easier said then done, but you are doing it. Your comments on your life to date have a positive message that those who have suffered something similar to what you have or are going through the process now, need to hear about. I think your story is one that needs to be told not only on this website, but out there for the public to read. It is a well written and honest, from the heart, account of how your life was changed by a tragic accident and how you are managing to make the most of the life you have now.I have said this before, and am saying it again, I admire you as a writer as well as the person I'm coming to know. All good wishes to you and give that beagle a hug for me...us Beagle (and other dogs) lovers must stick together! :-)! deb P.S. The artwork you chose is a powerful addition to this piece!

Thanks so much Deb. I would really like to put all 4 parts together and find a publisher as I agree it is something the public could benefit from-just in terms of understanding and relating to the disabled as well as for the disabled who wonder if they will ever have a life again. Thank you so much for your encouragement and support. Hope your New year is going well. Take care. Debbie

So far so good as far as the new year goes. Of course, it's only day 2! It makes me feel so good that you value you my opinion. Please keep me posted on what you decide to do about your story. I know from experience getting published is no easy trick. I had a children's book published in July thru an independent publisher and the money had to come out of my pocket. I'm in the process of switching to a different one because I was dissatisfied with the 1st one and am hoping that this one will be of more help. It's an expensive venture and to be honest it's money I really should not be spending because alimony only goes so far and lasts so long, but I decided to take the gamble. So, we'll see what happens. I would love to be picked up by a traditional publisher but without an agent, they won't look at a book. At least that's what I've been seeing from the different websites I've checked. Anyhow, Yours is such a necessary story that needs to be told that I hope you at least make the attempt to pursue it. Two Beagle lovers with the same name...I think we may have been destined to meet.Take care. deb

If you had to go through this I'm sorry I just could not imagine the change in life. This story shows just how your life you change in an instant. There is nothing you can do about it but accept it and make the most of what life is. Even being disabled life can be a lot. Sometimes a lot more than someone who can move freely anytime.

It's heart-breaking to read of the terrible things you've had to go through. I'm so sorry for that but nobody can take away another's pain or life path. I do love that you've been able to make the best of things despite everything. That shows a strong spirit. Penelope
The only thing I actually needed to do (was to) take care of my beagle
It took a long time to get a routine back, but at this point I go somewhere each day of the week. (Maybe you could reword the 'routine' part because you've already mentioned it in the previous sentence)

I hope you are doing some research on where to publish this. Imagine how many and who you are incouraging and informing! I played with one of your sentences below. You had the 'so's in one graph....they changing is your choice. Very well done. Kone
I tried using a prosthetic (artificial) leg, but it had been so[too] long since I had walked that my balance was so [delete 'so'] impaired and I was having so many falls [I was falling too many times or I was falling a lot],
I also found a support group for people with disabilities [comma] which has been a tremendous help.

Thank you so much for the help and the encouragement!!! I tend to put in way too many small words. Thanks for the review. I do want to have this published and need to get started on that now that it is finished. Happy New Years Kone. Debbie

You have certainly gone through enough misfortune and unlucky breaks in your life. I am glad to read this part of the story, kn owing that you can function, care enough about being part of the human race to volunteer in places where you are needed. All of your closing remarks are very encouraging to one who really wondered how you would fare, because I see you put your strengths to good use.

Hi, Deb, I'm glad you decided to write about your experiences after the accident. It may serve as a good example of perseverance and bravery. I'm sure writing also gets things off your pain a little and gives you certain satisfaction. I hope things will get better and better in time. God bless you.

I think writing about it has been very helpful and it is satisfying as it has taken me 6 years to be able to do so. Thank you for your review and kind words. Happy New Year. Debbie

Being around others is the best medicine of all. When I was sick I would go for days without seeing another person and spend week after week never getting out of the house.
Sigh girl. This is one of the things that is the hardest to get through. Feels like total abandonment doesn't it? I am amazed at how far you have come.
It's a new year with new wonderful things coming your way. Hang in there you!!!
